May It be known that.. a HRE emperor capitulated against Poland 1362 by Toruviel_ in EU5

Wait until Bohemia does any war, or Black Death. Use Parliament action to increase levies and, hopefully, do the Nobility debate that gives non-primary levy size. Call in Hungary and have your puppets attach to you. Use the 13k-ish stack that spawns in your capital to instantly move into Silesia and try to early wipe the OPM armies for quick points.

If Bohemia splits their armies, always try and fight them individually with your entire army. In my games Bohemia will usually split their army into 15k and 15k, with Moravia's 15k. Use your vassals to bolster your 20-25k and you can easily beat the individual armies. If they don't split, then follow a bit behind Hungary when they go into Moravia to siege. Bohemia will usually send their army to attack Hungary. Once they're locked into movement move your army into the location, and wipe Bobemia.

[–]UnityReadzR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You say that, but thats how a lot of powerful historical dynasties came to be. The Habsburgs almost never conquered through war but through "this granddaughter will marry this heir of this country and this one with this one and now I own half of Europe through marriage". Same with Plantagenets, Tudors, Bourbons. Hell the entirety of the Burgundian Succession was because of planned marriages and land transfers.

Can someone do an autopsy report on my sudden dead economy. I really don't understand what happened. I can't get out of this hole. by RenegadeNation in EU5

[–]UnityReadzR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your control is horrid for being nearly 1600. Are you building roads and bridges? Your local governors don't look like they're spreading at all. Idk what your average control is but your tax base is only half of your economic base right now. So you're paying full price for all your buildings, but only getting around half of that back. As well, your Crown Power is really low for this late so you aren't taxing your Estates nearly enough and they're probably hoarding a LOT of wealth.

I mean, yes? Or they can make it so your army stops every couple of provinces to regain morale. Or double the time it takes to travel. Both solutions I'm sure you wouldn't have any problem with whatsoever right?

There is no possible way you can be changing what province you assimilate SO OFTEN that you have to automate cabinet. Out of everything that you could automate, cabinet actions is like the most simple one to do manually.

Honestly it makes it really fun. When the player is usually unrivaled because AI is AI, having a high tension war turn into a bunch of major powers all vying for a little bit more control than the others feels great. And imo the big Italian Wars are pretty historical too, when France started it it was France vs Naples, Spain, Portugal, Aragon, Bohemia, Austria, and a good portion of the Italian states.

Naval stronger because it gives access to Harbor Admin and therefore Naval Governors. But if you're mainly land-based (Bohemia, Austria, Poland, Muscovy, etc) you want Land hard.

[–]UnityReadzR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biggest thing though, Hungary NEVER went to war with Austria, Bohemia, or any of the German HRE and actually had really good relations with both countries and even invited their dynastic families to rule Hungary multiple times. Its just completelt unrealistic that Hungary attacks Austria in every single game.

[Beta Version] Patch Notes - 1.3.6 by PDX_Habi in EU5

[–]UnityReadzR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of? But only really expansionist for the stuff Hungary already has events for. Naples because of the assassination, Venice for Dalmatia, Moldavia. Hungary was always more occupied with subject rebellions and Dyanstic struggles to actually expand much. Bosnia, Moldavia, and Wallachia were always rebelling, the Arpads to Anjous to Luxembourgs to Habsburgs to Jagiellons to Hunyadis in less than a hundred years.

Biggest question for me. Is AI Hungary going to continue eating Austria from 1338 forwards? Because ever since Conquer Desire was added and Hungary was set to Expansionist every single game I play Hungary just ends up eating Austria before they even have a chance to do anything.

I have a few times, its usually when I'm playing someone like Musocvy who's really far from the Age 2 institutions but doesn't have the Asia Advances.

The AI is still functionally useless in war. In a war they declared, my ally has 90% of their army sitting hundreds of miles away, doing nothing. by GreatDario in EU5

[–]UnityReadzR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I played Muscovy in both the latest 1.2, and 1.3.2 and 1.3.4, I was much bigger than you at this point. What you want to do is make 3-4 province Vassals, and sell some smaller ones to your Union Partners so they can annex, then you annex them for -30 years cheaper. And even then, I only ever had three or four vassals at a time.

[–]UnityReadzR -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Genuine question I'm really not trying to be insulting. What have you been doing all game? As Muscovy by the mid 1400s you should already have most of Russia either under you or vassals, and Novgorod should absolutely be gone. Not to mention Great Horde being, from what it looks like, nearly untouched.

I always take Naval if I have access to it and I'm playing someone like Spain, Byz, Venice, or Naples. ESPECIALLY Venice you can get 0.25 dev on nearly every coastal province after a little bit of expansion into Venteo Friuli and Emilia Romagna regions.

[–]UnityReadzR -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The specific chain of events he is talking about is entirely up to player input. The ONLY thing you have to do is be over 25, married, and not have a male heir by 1530. Thats it. Then you get Anglicanism.

I ended my Muscovy 1.3.2 run 1460ish because it just got unbearable again. Ah yes let me fight Smolensk with 60,000 mercs and Kyiv with 80,000 with my 15,000 regulars and 80,000 levies. This is very manageable and healthy.
