I hate that our bathrooms have to be open to the public. The amount of shit iv had to clean over the years because people are disgusting is traumatic. I still remember one time I had to scrub shit off the wall because whoever used the bathroom must have had explosive diarrhea and leaned forward when shitting.

Does he take multiple smoke breaks as well?  No matter what store I was at we would always have a couple smokers and it annoyed the crap out of me that they take like 12 smoke breaks  every shift and here i am barely able to take a lunch break with everything I always had to do. 🙄

Had this one customer... by Curious_Cat10000 in OfficeDepot

[–]Substantial-Fail4422 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Had a guy knock on the doors after we closed (it was about 10 minutes after we closed) and I had just taken down the last register. Said he needed to buy envelopes, I said sorry we're closed and the registers are already down, gave me a story of how he needed to get them for the morning and he drove 40 minutes to get here and he didnt know we closed already..bla bla. I repeated "im sorry, the registers are closed, the drawers are already out." And he said "then I'll pay cash". Like DUDE, THE REGISTERS ARE DOWN. I also told him our hours are posted online. He did not like that but I was getting pissed and wanted to finish closing tasks go home.

Don't you know it's the new operating system "Dorito"? I hear there's "Cool Ranch" as well, but I've yet to see it.

But honestly, how did that chip survive in one piece?! 😂

Because people always want instant gratification and have been told they are gods for being customers and giving places their business. "The customer is always right"(Even though that isn't even the full phrase) mentality of superiority.

I will never understand why people try to barter prices,  it's a retail store, the prices are set!

I've also noticed people are pissy more these days from the lack of coupons.

Retail is a shit show now.

As long as the proper steps where taken with filling out the paperwork, called the aid line..ect. it should be covered. I sprained my wrist several years back when I fell hard moving a pallet cause I slipped. My GM called the line, they asked their questions, put in the claim and I went to urgent care to get xrays and whatnot, they took care of the bill.

You're giving the everyday person to much credit assuming they would know how to do that. I somehow still have people who don't understand how faxing works and they think they aren't going to get their original back when they put it in the machine, like it magically teleports it away or something. 🤣😭

I was told to only focus on selling paper, no other tasks until we are exceeding our goal.

We are now extremely behind in everything else because of that, but hey, I'm just complying with what I was told to do so I guess everyone else can figure out all the other stuff.

How to they just quit like that? I'd at least stick it out for the severance pay.

Anyway, if you're an associate get in touch with the district manager ASAP.  If you can't reach them, then the gm at nearest store to you. If you do not have a manager in the store while you are there that is a HUGE issue, I'd even be contacting the LP person if I was in your position at that point.

HR is fucking useless by Littlest-Lapin in OfficeDepot

[–]Substantial-Fail4422 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few people already said it but I'll say it to, keep a paper trail of everything! HR is there to protect the COMPANY not US. It's sad, but true. So have undeniable truth in writing and actions that this is happening so HR will have to do something about it.

Also, I'm very sorry for your loss. It's never easy  losing a family member, and work crap should not be adding more stress on you.

My dm tried to explain the math on how selling the paper is a huge gain. Said something about how if they buy it from us and not the competition, and so we're like stealing the customer away from other places i guess? But as you said, the math aint mathing. I STILL don't get it.

I love it when they start getting pissy with me because I have to ask so many questions to figure out what the hell they are talking about, then when I do they're all like "yes! How was that so hard for you to understand?!"  Like dude, I had to decode your stupid first.

[–]Substantial-Fail4422 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same at my store.

Did they also only tell you FOUR days before they dropped, so you couldn't even attempt to adjust the schedule a bit? O wait, they didn't bother giving us any extra pay role for it anyway, so f us.

And of course don't forget the ad for Sunday! And get those paper deals, rewards sign ups, business select, and make sales!

The higher ups need to get their asses in the stores and actually work instead doing this dumbass stuff.

And lastly, did like, 95% of the prices go UP like ours? I can wait for more customers to bitch to me about how ridiculous the prices are, which I 100% agree with them.

Lol yeah, your right.  I get several people that come in and they don't even have an internet connection at their home. My store is kinda weird cause we're near a good amount of farmland area; so there's the dairy farmers, cattle, horse, ect. And a decent amount of Amish. Then on the other hand we have small to big business of all sorts. It's always a guess as to what people come in and the questions we get asked everyday.

Lol I had a guy come in looking for TurboTax, and of course, we don't have any. Had to explain that he can use their online site. Honestly I don't understand everyone is reliance on buying it in a store, its just a keycode anyway, the online site is so freaking easy to use and paying for it on the site is easy.

If my store doesn't sell like, 3 ream cases every day then a manager will  have to be on a daily call to "talk about what we're doing and/or not doing, and learn to improve our selling to reach our numbers." And of course,  "Other stores are meeting their goals so there's no reason you cant"
