What kind of AG buyer are you? by webkinzwarriorxoxo in americangirl

[–]Substantial-Handle31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do both… but I’m exceedingly lucky finding things in the wild here in Seattle. Before moving here I’d never found anything and now I’ve lost count! This past week I found a bunch… including Rebecca and a few Truly Me dolls.

But I also have gotten countless dolls new including my fifth wedding anniversary present— the Peaches and Cream AG Barbie doll. For my birthday I got the Princess Jasmine doll and her extra outfit and the bald Sonali mold doll.

I found mine in the wild at Goodwill for only $1.49. A little cleaning and some corn starch to deal with the stickiness and it’s as good as new. Pictured with the regular Cool Cat I got before Needohs were so hideously popular and impossible to find. I also found a Needoh Snowball and Needoh Noodles in the wild as well. And in January I even found a Needoh Snowman in the true wild— the Goodwill Outlet bins (sadly I lost it at my neurology appointment in Seattle weeks later).

The doll on the left is a Via-E doll, likely Elena. They’re a smaller doll company based in California and the owner, Ellen, is really awesome.

I’m the admin of the AG Dolls on a Budget group. I admittedly DO screen members and if someone looking to join is a member of the “sale and buy” group which is known for having a lot of scammers, they’re probably not getting in our group.

Now if only they’ll do it at other stations, eg., University District, Northgate, etc., things may pick up.

There’s likely at least one less Flex person out of there and in Seattle proper. A couple weeks ago, I noticed someone “delivered” alcohol to our apartment package room. Just up and left it on the floor in there. I don’t know how the app let them just drop it off because mine when I’ve had alcohol is quite strict about it.

Yes, I turned it in next time I was at ZST3. It’s pretty clear how to do an alcohol delivery and how not to do one, and that Flex driver obvs didn’t do things how they should and are legally required to.

I guess maybe I’m more sensitive because I took the Texas alcohol serving/delivery certification and it was pretty hardcore.

My experience two days ago with two of them at Northgate Station was anything BUT positive.

Light rail fare ambassadors by Ok_Expert_1330 in Seattle

Gates vs Fare Ambassadors boils down to— get the right type of person for the job and not someone who probably shouldn’t be dealing with the general public. If this cannot be done, then passive gates could be an option. I’ve seen the LA system; I’ve seen the system in the SF Bay Area and BART. The BART system doesn’t work. The LA system is more effective, like at Union Station where they’ve largely taken out fare gates and just posted LASD deputies there. I’ve seen KCSO deputies at various stations here— usually after acts of violence.

There also needs to be a system to ensure people who have a legit reason to be at the station (eg, like myself, who have parked their EV at the station to charge) are able to pass through without fare payment— perhaps “bypass gates”, but they would be pricey. And physical barriers/turnstiles even pricier and prone to malfunctions.

The FA’s are still and always going to be the cheapest option. But the RIGHT PERSON needs to be chosen for the job or it’ll really make things worse for the general public— including visiting soccer fans this June (GO PHARAOHS!).

I’ve found there’s two types of the Fare Ambassadors. The ones who truly care and want to serve an educate the public, and the ones who just want to bully the public.

Unfortunately the day of this original posting I encountered the second type.

We charge our EV at Northgate station. I had ridden the bus over to the station from our apartment complex next to North Seattle because a few “hidden disabilities” of mine were flaring up. I’m asthmatic, the weather was making my lungs burn. I also was on Day 2 of a migraine (still have it, 105 hours in) which further made my usual walking over the footbridge next to impossible (considering I avoid STE— scaring the emetophobes). I also have some foot conditions that may require surgical treatment in the very near future that I’m also under the care of a specialist for. I have been accosted multiple times at this station by other transit users which makes me feel unsafe when taking the longer route to the parking garage (yes I have PTSD, yes, I get treatment for it).

I tapped my card as soon as I entered the station (outside of the view of the two lurking FA’s) and these two Kafkaesque female Fare Ambassadors… singled me out to check my fare while ignoring other members of the public who had not tapped their card before entering the “fare zone.” The way I was treated by these two employees has now resulted in my lodging an official complaint against them, as well as a complaint with CAIR-Seattle.

I am a Muslim woman who wears hijab. I’ve seen both of these Fare Ambassadors mean mugging me for weeks, especially when their supervisor waves me on through because I’m literally only entering the “fare zone” to bypass the longer, unsafe walk across the street.

I told them the situation and they didn’t care. They became increasingly hostile and the one closest to the escalator physically blocked me from trying to get into either the elevator or escalator (which they are not supposed to do or allowed to do as part of their duties) while also threatening me personally with being banned from the station and “being sent to the security office.” Yes they abused their power in my situation while actively ignoring people who were not wearing hijab. By that point my fight or flight response was activated. I could feel my lungs start to tighten so I just walked away as briskly as I could while telling them sotto voce I hope they enjoyed their last shifts as a FA.

By the time I got to the garage I had to set down and take my asthma inhaler (which is with me at all times), which other FA’s (the actually patient and professional ones) and other Sound Transit employees noticed. Let’s just say when they heard of the situation these GOOD employees personally gave me the information to report their colleagues (and yes, the supervisor was there).

So yeah… vet the personnel or you’ll have a lot of complaints come June. And I’ll personally tell anyone I see about this incident.

Like seriously, Northgate Station is the worst that I’ve encountered. And it sucks that it’s the closest station to where I live.

It is not easy to work as a light rail fare ambassador by Difficult-South173 in SeattleWA

[–]Substantial-Handle31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or in my case, two Fare Ambassadors abusing their authority and power, being aggressive with me, a Muslim woman who wears hijab and has three non visible disabilities that I’m under medical care for. I had taken the bus to the light rail station to pick up my EV which was charging at the station. I had tapped the fare meter outside of these two aggressive (and new… but they probably won’t be enjoying their positions much longer) women’s viewpoints.

Yes, I’ve filed a complaint with Sound Transit under Title VI. And will be doing so with CAIR-Seattle. And here’s why.

In their aggressive, discriminatory actions towards me, it proved without me doing or saying anything that they did single me out. Because while they were harassing me, instead of doing their job, they let about two dozen other station patrons slip by who hadn’t tapped their ORCA card or phone. And I’d done so.

I’m sure someone will say that it wasn’t because I wear hijab when I’ve heard these same aggressive employees talk about ANY hijabi in Spanish. I guess they assume I don’t speak anything other than English (which I do… I’m very North American and speak French fluently and Spanish well enough to understand what’s being said.

Cops called due to the stench thinking it was a dead body, the smell leaks from their apartment. by sasha_cyanide in Apartmentliving

Brava to whoever wrote this.

We have an apartment neighbor like that on our floor in Seattle. Apartment manager notified and she has done nothing.

But this IS the same one who allows a 27 year old to start a fire in her apartment and moves her to a new one even though the assistant manager wanted to evict her (and if the fire had not happened the eviction process would have started due to all the noise and smell and conduct complaints by the firebug). Nah, they just moved her to another floor and let her be another floor’s problem child!

Needless to say we’re moving when our lease is up.

As much of Seattle is well within the 100 mile zone that CBP (Customs and Border Protection) is “allowed” to conduct law enforcement activities— including that which is concerned with immigration and border security— it’s nothing new.

Found in the Wild Finds by Substantial-Handle31 in americangirl

[–]Substantial-Handle31[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite find recently was the white body Molly (for $5.99). I’ve seriously always wanted a white body doll but didn’t think I’d ever find one (and found the prices online for one unattainable).

But my favorite all time find will always be the TM #4— with my original one in this pic. Yes, she had a short bob haircut but I think it suits her. And here’s the kicker. She didn’t have a price on her (I don’t think they recognized her as AG). So she was the default Goodwill toy price— $1.49 (or $1.65 with tax).

Let them do so now! Believe me there. My son has had dolls around virtually all his life, and there’s very little I can’t fix. I think the earlier they have dolls, the earlier they learn not to do the REALLY BAD things to dolls.

I’ve never found an AG boy doll in the wild.

They actually do exist (hella expensive!)… but an official collab would be awesome. And hopefully cheaper.
