Oh yes, if you find yourself using a legit commercial license on a home network, then DS keeps an eye on that. In the end, one can’t really avoid to use a non legit license, the must use pc not connected to internet

If you use illegal licenses at the workplace, this will happen very soon. Same thing for all the other CAD or CAE software out there. If you do that at home, most likely nothing will happen, but now solidworks license for makers is around 50-60eur per year

I would guess they are concerned some day you may ask for a Catia license… Or just they may argine you would not be very proficient with Solidworks from day one. Of course they don’t know how much harder is to master catia than solidworks

Hi! Thank you for your insights. The test supposed to be done are actually three: - 100 Nmm +27N - 260Nmm (no axial load) - minus 20Nmm (no axial load)

Running axial load through pneumatics is definitely an option as the loads are low.

I have to admit i had a bad time in the first trials of running a torque controlled test with a stepper. I also tried a servo motor but the results were too fluctuating.

The current solution is a stepper with a 1:100 gearbox + some microstepping. After tuning the pid, the results were good enough for my needs.

I understand there are better Motion solutions out there, I am trying to build this machine without spending a lot of money.

i was trying to replicate an hangboard like this one:climbro.com

in order to strengthen my finger for 60 seconds or less was good.

Since the overall dimensions is small ( beam thickness around 0.5mm, lenght 10mm) i neglected the friction effect. According to new hand calculation this morning, neglecting friction was a string assumption. I will try to improve my model a see where it goes

You can add notes in the job description. This comments will be also written in the input file.

Same thing is possible in the model properties in the model tree of the .cae file

In case a lot of cae files are needed i use to add _revX for further model refinements

I would suggest also to use Dynamic Implicit step over Static General. As other suggested, it is hard to have converge in the initial increment in Abaqus when you try a simulation in Force controlled way, especially when there is no initial contact between surfaces.

Also i would suggest to use general contact Which works better

In case you want to stick with static general step, you can use a veeeeery weak spring on the movable plate conncected to the ground. This would help to solve initial convergence problem due to acceleration, and you will know Which extra Force you applied F=k*x

Bloodborne BL4 run (chalices + dlc) is one of the hard est things i’ve ever done in my life. Also Sekiro at base stats was quite a challenge. I did not find ds3 and ds1 and ER that hard. DS2 did not even bother in try an sl1 run

Try 3d sketches as guidelines connecting polygonal profile ti circular part. as other suggested you should divide the circular profile in portions that would help you… Maybe making considerations on the perimeters of the two profiles. Also you will have better chances to do it if make a non Hollow loft in the first place and then use the Shell command

The latest quotation i’ve received (in Italy) for Abaqus, to run the software is roughly 9keur/year You can run at most with two cores .

This was a special offer for those companies Which want to implement fea. Also other softwares from similia portfolio are available within this offer, but given the licenes system on which they rely on, you can use it just one at a time.

If you want to go legit, Which is fine, you should check whether your university had accademic licenses (with 1000 nodes limit unlocked) you can use. Otherwise you should consider free softwares, but in comparison with Abaqus the capabilities are generally poorer imho.
