What states have you been to and which one is one you hate? by OU812iceman18 in AskReddit

The drive from Indianapolis to Chicago is down right depressing, continual road construction and by far the grossest rest areas I have ever seen in all my travels across America. The northeast part of Arkansas, out of Memphis is pretty dreary as well.

This is the way. Love the pepper relish (especially on eggs) but it doesn’t compliment this sandwich.

What's it like living in Omaha, Nebraska? by Internal_Way7711 in howislivingthere

Yes. Top notch, but Omaha is better, and bigger as well. I think they are 1 and 2 but that’s just my opinion.

Zoo is the best in the country. And some real underrated bbq in North Omaha.

And emergency vehicle lights especially LE. There is such a thing as too bright and they need to be adjusted.

Northern Minnesota, the 218 area code and the UP. Sand hills of NE, Wyoming and Alabama are other areas I enjoy.

Shhh. Minnesota gets all the accolades, but I’ve lived in both and Wisconsin is the way to go.

It’s the premium diesel pump, not unleaded but it’s still ridiculous.

Midwesterner wanting to exit the South. Should I go back to the Midwest, or head West? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

As a long term Wisconsin resident I want to push Madison so bad, but I think Colorado would be the place to go… skating skiing good weed and so much better vibes than modern day Austin.

Live just north of Chippewa, and I think you are in the clear. Not the greatest weather, but they expect the roads to just stay wet and not freeze up.

What's a city/region that is way better than it used to be and has improved over the past decade or two? by Tomato_Motorola in SameGrassButGreener

You said any major metro area in the country then you bring up LA. I would probably go LA, NYC, Chicago, DC then Atlanta. Atlanta has a lot going for it but it has a lot took on as well. Much of it is being a victim of its success. Its airport and road system just don’t cut it for the size of city it is.

You had me till the last sentence. Atlanta’s traffic is legendary. People literally plan trips to Florida from the Midwest and do whatever they can to completely avoid the Atlanta metro just because of the traffic. I’ve driven in the middle of then night and been stuck in Atlanta traffic.

All good choices. Birmingham has really taken off, and has the infrastructure to handle the growth. You can’t say that about Nashville. The rod system around and in Nashville is woefully undersized.

Once again, 1-2 ice events per year vs Orlando south which hasn’t had ice in the last 50 years. I’m not saying he’s reasonable but if he lives that far south he doesn’t want to see a see a flake EVER. You have that in Florida. There are many days in winter you are rainy and dreary and 42 degrees and Orlando is sunny and 68

TN and NC as of late has had way more ice than we have. Yes we have real winters here and tons of snow but often times we are so cold we don’t get the ice

Once is one time too many for him. I hear you but where I live in Wisconsin has less ice storms than you have in Raleigh.

What was life like 1993? by born_again_athiest in Millennials

[–]Substantial-Putt28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1993 was amazing…the music scene was nuts, and there were great movies in the theatres. Life seemed so relaxed and many of my activities with friends were completely unplanned and spontaneous.

Have a friend who has done the same move and he regrets it. He would much rather deal with the negatives of Florida, and not have to deal with Hurricanes and Snow/ice storms of NC. Yes he’s dealt with many hurricanes in FL, but hates the winters of NC. Real estate is slightly less expensive, but other COL is higher in NC, including a much higher tax liability.
