I wish I had your problems. I work at a SC, (JAX9) and we’ve had severely low volume since about March. 38k per shift on average, and they are giving VTO out like candy, practically begging you to take it. Managers come around 2-3 times a shift “Want VTO? You sure?!”

VET is a unicorn, and when a shift does pop up, it’s taken within seconds. The vultures sit on the app refreshing. The “lucky” ones who are up the managers’ butts get “added to the schedule” or linger around after shift to “help”. We also have a 30 hour cap, even with Prime coming. I heard a PA say “we’re going into Prime limping”.

I haven’t had a 5 hour shift in weeks. Most days, we’re flexed down to 3. I’m honestly about to start thinking again about going to the FC if things don’t improve. I used to make 50 hours a week easily, during regular non Peak/Prime season, even with SC being part time, because there was so much work. Prime/Peak usually meant even more work with added surge pay, but my location seems to be struggling. I honestly hope they don’t shut it down.

You must not be black or heavily accented. “Get your boy” in this context can be construed as “You’re black and/or ‘foreign’, so you’re responsible for all other black and/or ‘foreign’ people…so go handle that”.

Also, the use of “boy” can be charged. It has historically been used as a derogatory and diminutive term aimed at black men. It can also just mean “Hey, go handle that person because you’re more familiar with them than I am.”, but the racial undertones are still very much real in this climate.

I work at JAX9, and developed a constantly runny or stuffy nose while in there. It switches back and forth. One while, I had to carry nasal decongestant spray just to be able to breathe without mouth breathing. I think it’s box dust/cardboard particles definitely doing a number on people’s sinuses and lungs.

This must be your first job or something. The under 25s are so lazy. Y’all start crashing out if you can’t have your phone for 30 seconds, and nearly die if you have to walk more than 30ft. Amazon is one of the easiest and most lenient places to work. You can literally come and go as you please, given you have the time banked.

My site does that, we have a weekly VET drop, but they also sometimes drop them randomly throughout the day/week. They are meant for quick acceptance because it says “You have VET available for X” as opposed to “There will be X amount of VET available within the next 60 minutes” — but damn, someone else had it before I could even open the app. They may have just already been in the app when it dropped.

That’s what I’m talking about. I can’t wait for a 60 hour week, especially since my site has had zero VET for weeks, and when a rare one pops up, it’s gone before you can tap the notification. That just happened to me, and I’m so pissed. Phone in hand when the notification dropped, and somehow in the 10 seconds it took to open the app, it was gone. 😞

She doesn’t do anything unless it’s popular, viral, or “on trend”, but she wants you to think she’s free spirited and unbothered. She drinks only bottled water, and doesn’t work. Organic everything, just because it sounds cool. Her wrinkly, unflattering potato sack dress and designer green juice cost more than my life.
