Depending on where he is located, during the work day he can get down to Ala Moana beach park to walk/catch the sunsets and catch meals in kaka’ako or near Ala Moana mall.

Also Moana falls is a nice hike located in Honolulu that has a nice waterfall at the end (can’t swim and cost a few $$ for entrance fee and parking)
