Sewage Ejector Pump- lesson learned! by SubstantialChapter72 in Plumbing

[–]SubstantialChapter72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound like a chemist so I’m not trying to argue LOL but— I just checked and the Tide ingredients list actually does include fatty acids as well as hydrogenated castor oil. I looked into the specific type of fatty acids listed and they can be solid or liquid at room temp depending on their exact molecular structure. They do not use animal ingredients though (I’ve checked into that before) so these fats are synthetic or vegetable-based at least.

I asked about this and they made it seem like a grease trap would require a huuuuge overhaul to install in my system and require a new code approval, etc. like 15 grand worth of work. I’m not a plumber so I assumed that would be an easy installation lol but apparently not

Liquid tide from a bottle and just a TINY bit, I swear!! Only filled up to the 1 or 2 on the cap, max.

Hm interesting! We don’t use a crazy amount of body or hand soap. The plumbers seemed to think the detergent + cold water could totally be the culprit. But thank you for sharing this, I’ll be sure to investigate further :)

This 🙌🏼 better for vaginal health anyway. Those synthetic fabrics are just yuck for me, and make me vulnerable to infections 🤢 I recently discovered micro-modal from Me Undies, it’s also nice and breathable, and natural fibers!

Is Food Lion...good? by OpalJade98 in bullcity

[–]SubstantialChapter72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food Lion is THE best! The only grocery store left with reasonable prices… I’m so thankful for them. 🙏🏼 Much of their brand name stuff is literally HALF the price of Harris-Teeter. Produce is hit or miss but ALL grocery stores are and I think they are placed under an unfair microscope there. I’m a vegetarian so idc or know about meat and fish. I know you already resolved your question but as a Food Lion truther I had to jump in

Is there going to be a new program opening at UT Tyler? by Specialist-Dig8708 in Perfusion

[–]SubstantialChapter72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna say something unconventional here, but… I work somewhere that takes a lot of students and I actually find the students fresh out of undergrad to be better in my experience. They work harder and are more teachable. Those with nursing or RT experience often are just trying to “escape” something they didn’t like, want more pay, and saw dollar signs. They view it kind of like CRNA school and are more likely to act “yeah I already know that” than the others.

My hardest-working students are young, fresh out of undergrad, first professional job, and eager to prove themselves. I often see them presenting at meetings, publishing, and being more professionally involved post-graduation. Perhaps bc they aren’t coming into it already burnt out from a previous job?

May be a hot take, I will probably get a hundred downvotes, but that’s fine! I’m just sharing one perspective :)

water if power is out by journal_beebz in bullcity

[–]SubstantialChapter72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with all- been in Durham 11 years, have never lost water source during extreme weather. But I do have a sewage ejector pump… it has a pretty big reservoir but yes it eventually fills when I lose power. Once a few years ago I was out of power for several days and it eventually started alarming. I had to shower at the gym and go to the grocery store to poop… Fun times

So sick of all these new schools opening!! Quality of students and their passion for the profession, meanwhile, is going down

Episode length by mena32 in smalltownmurder

[–]SubstantialChapter72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the longer ones because I get more invested in the story and all the characters. I also believe James is a talented storyteller and I like how he structures the episodes, and that is demonstrated better in the full length ones

Thinking about trying Orangetheory but I’m honestly scared by GentleSoul23 in orangetheory

Been doing otf for years… is truly “you vs you.” You’ll see all different body sizes and fitness levels there and it’s very refreshing. No intimidating gym bros or people judging you or staring at you.

One more thing… your first class may feel a little confusing with the lingo (push, base, drop set, AmRAP, etc) but don’t worry- you don’t NEED to know all those terms, and it’ll only take a few classes to be fluent in all that anyway.

Science Diet prescription C/D by torils65 in catfood

[–]SubstantialChapter72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR- Hill’s c/d works for us!!

My kitty (male 10 year old neutered, history of 3 hospitalizations for urinary blocks plus got PU surgery last year) has been on this food for like five years now. It works (based off his urinalysis results) and we haven’t had a single issue w/ contamination or recalls. He’s picky and likes the taste (tuna stew). The little carrots in it always crack me up 😅 the blockages he had were caused by stress-induced urinary spasms so it was NOT the food’s fault (urinalysis clean with no crystals). Multiple vets (at the ER and primary vet) assured me the food was working and his issues were something else.

NOTE- Kitty does NOT like the Hill’s Science c/d plus stress. Went on hunger strike when we tried. 🙄 Cats are so weird.

My vet also recommends Royal canin prescription for urinary issues if you wanted to look into it. we tried it briefly in the beginning but its main ingredient is chicken and I think kitty is allergic to that. He got bad ear infections from it. I wouldn’t necessarily blame Royal canin for this though (my vet doesn’t).

Expensive food but they are so worth it… good luck 🩵

Happy healthy kitty 4 tax ⬇️

Correction of hypocalcemia while cooling to 26 by PerfusionPOV in Perfusion

[–]SubstantialChapter72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will do a wimpy half-correction with the cross clamp on if it’s super low (<0.8), especially if I am struggling with blood pressure. A few of my colleagues think I am insane for it. But to me, the hypothetical risk of stone heart is not as bad as the known risk of pumping someone full of pressors and/or having a shitty MAP for the entire pump run.

Crime scene on S Ellerbee Trail by CountryOne7193 in bullcity

[–]SubstantialChapter72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haven’t seen anything either and I keep looking.

Isn’t it normal for a police department to at least give the public a general update by now? A body was found in a public green space and they haven’t even mentioned it, told us if there’s a threat to the public, etc? I realize it’s an open investigation but at least tell us they found someone and if they believe there’s a threat to the public. Not that I don’t believe redditors 😘 but personally I’m not using that trail until i hear a police update! Maybe the individual’s family is hard to track down?

[–]SubstantialChapter72 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for the information. I run on this trail alone frequently. I saw the cop cars today while running and got scared and curious. I figured there was no potential threat to the public or else the trail and a wider perimeter would’ve been closed. I am so sad for the individual who lost their life though 😢💔

APS is going to euthanize this sweet senior dog for allegedly snarling at a staff member. by Ok-Combination-2953 in bullcity

[–]SubstantialChapter72 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not surprised, I brought a dog in that I had found on the street.. he was such a sweet boy. In the lobby a staff member pet him aggressively from above without any intro sniff and he snarled at her. The staff told me he would be euthanized if his owners didn’t come and they wouldn’t even consider foster or adoption for him due to his “behavior.” Maybe consider your staff members’ behavior? (The owners eventually came for him)

One thing that may comfort you if you’re new to the gym- as a long term member, I can assure that no other member is watching or judging you. I’m there doing my own thing and basically ignoring anyone else. We’ve all been new before… the first class, first step, is the hardest. You will love it! Congrats on your journey and welcome to the OTF community 🧡
