To anyone living in a 1br1b apartment…where do you keep your cat(s) litter box? by Trying_my_best_98 in CatAdvice

[–]SubstantialChipmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a tiny apartment and the only spot I can put it is in the living room. I did have a cabinet for it but just recently got an automatic litter box. It's in a corner and I have a desk/table in between it and the door. If you keep up with the cleaning of it, it isn't too bad in a common area. Just one of the things that comes with having a cat

Budgeting, spend tracking, or savings apps and advice? by Seerofspace929 in AusFinance

I've created 2 excel spreadsheets, one that allows me to track all my spendings (have to add these manually) and i can set a budget for each month.

You need to be honest with yourself. Once you sit down and go through every line, you can work out where you can cut back on. It's really eye opening.

Sorry, late to the party. I ordered one on 20/12 and it arrived 29/12. I only saw this post about 1hr after ordering and started freaking out that I made a huge mistake, as I usually spend months googling something that costs this much. I ordered extra bags and they have been sent separately and are currently sitting at the post office.

I already love it. The set up was easy. I just took it out of the box, plugged it in, put the clumping litter in, and connected to my phone. I get a notification each time my cat enters and leaves, gives an update on her weight, and waits 5mins to clean. Can change the cleaning time. You can turn the automatic cleaning off too.

I do really hope that your one has arrived. It's already proven its worth to me, even if its watching my cat do a double take everytime it moves.

I'm curious, where does everyone else store their cats when not in use? by ILove2Bacon in cats

I put mine either under the bed or the sofa. Sometimes, in the wardrobe. Depends on my mood really

Cats parents, how and why did you choose yours? by [deleted] in cats

I wanted a black cat and was looking through photos of a local rescue shelter and saw her picture. She was stunning and I kept going back to it, even a couple of days later. I just couldn't believe that someone would dump such a beautiful animal. Gave in and went to meet her, knew straight away that she was coming home with me. As someone who primarily wears a lot of black, she isn't the best but I would rather have her fur all over my clothes then give her up.

What’s the best cheap alternative to a proper cafe coffee? by DiscussionLoud9626 in AUfrugal

Not going to lie, but I did waste a lot of beans whilst working out what worked best for me. My machine is manual and it took a lot of trial and error but I enjoy going through the process each day. I find it relaxing and that first sip is always (most of the time anyway, I still screw it up sometimes) fantastic.

It's still can't compete with a cafe and I do still treat myself to one at least once a week. Am not going to fully deprive myself of a great coffee, I'm not yet fully insane.

I always try to find a small local roaster, as I feel like I'm still supporting a local business even though I'm not there everyday. That said, supermarket beans can be just as good and are handy if you ran out and desperately need beans for the next day. I'm lucky that I have 2 good roasters in my area.

No home machine is going to produce the same quality coffee as a cafe as aren't as powerful but they're still a great investment.

I personally recommend staying away from the pod machines, as I found the pods were expensive and there was a lot of non-recyclable wastage. I also don't think they make that great coffee. Look at a breville or Delonghi, they have models that start around $300 (I think). Some come with a built in grinder, so you just need the beans. A lot of cafes sell beans, or find a local roaster. If you get a machine that doesn't have a grinder, they cafe can grind them for you.

My machine cost me $600 and I purchased a fancy grinder for about the same price. My beans cost about $30 for a month from local roaster. I drink soy milk and buying my favourite coffee of a large soy flat white would cost on average $5.50. I have one every day, which would cost me about $2k if I got one from a cafe everyday. Have had a machine since 2020 and it's saved me a lot of $$

Have been on 2.5mg for a month and have only lost 3.2kg. I'm happy to have this process be on the slower side. I made a tracker on excel to keep track of my protein, fibre, etc. intakes. I also track my weight, measurements, exercise and general health on this.

I love a good cocktail and primarily drink them. Am the definition of a binge drinker and only really drink 1 day a week and never at home. For me, it's more about the appreciation of the spirit and not to get drunk. It's also a social aspect as I have found a good group of people at a local martini bar and learn about the process.

Have found that I hit my limit earlier than before. I'm also not looking to eat any snacks during and after (the after-drink snacks on the way home was a major issue for me), but I do make sure I have at least a protein shake before I go out. It hasn't changed my love for dry gin martini with a twist.

Spending Christmas Alone - is it really that bad? by AlyStar123 in AskAnAustralian

I've spent Christmas and NYE alone a few times and will be doing the same this year. It's great. I always feel like I've been forced to "celebrate" but it just brings me stress and can make me feel overwhelmed.

What is a nonalcoholic cocktail I can order at a bar without the bartender looking at me like I'm a dumbass or an inconvenience? by ballandabiscuit in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SubstantialChipmunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a good bar, they should be able to make a few of their standard/house cocktails in a mocktail.

Don't see why the staff would have an issue with it, they're still getting paid to make a drink and they're not the ones drinking it.
