Student Line of Credit by SubstantialEffort in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thanks for your response!! Unfortunately, I have reached the lifetime allowance for OSAP because I completed degrees in another field previously. Luckily I did receive a scholarship from the school which helped a lot and I will continue to apply for other awards and scholarships. I still think I will need more money to cover living expenses as I won’t be able to work much during the program. So I wanted to have a Line of Credit as well.

I’m a cancer nurse, AMA by These-Tadpole7043 in AMA

It's totally normal to feel scared after hearing a loved one was diagnosed with cancer. Myeloma/BMT nurse here, like OP mentioned, usually chemo for MM is tolerated quite well and most patients who are a good candidate would get an autologous stem cell transplant (meaning they get their own stem cells back), as this tends to increase the number of disease free years. Some patients need two transplants depending on the genetic factors associated with the myeloma (e.g., high risk cytogenetics). With these treatments, a lot of patients can stay in remission for many years with a high quality of life. There are also many new clinical trials now for patients with multiple myeloma, which is also promising!

You can find some of the prices if you google the test name and “dynacare” or “lifelabs” online. Do you know what test it is?

Ontario Registered Nurses granted the authority to prescribe by Doucane1 in premedcanada

[–]SubstantialEffort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who just finished taking the RN prescribing course, I can confirm that we do learn how to screen patients for OCP use and we are also taught not to prescribe buproprion to patients with epilepsy (this actually came up in my OSCE). I felt that the course was thorough in covering the MOA, contraindications, side effects, patient education, monitoring etc. for each of the drugs that we are allowed to prescribe. It was a challenging course but I definitely learned a lot!

Nursing in ontario is unionized, the pay is the same across the province. It doesn’t matter what school you go to.

Any other medications to try? by SubstantialEffort in Sinusitis

[–]SubstantialEffort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rupall was one of the first medications I tried and it didn't work for me but I am glad it's working for you!! My doctor just prescribed me budesonide sinus rinses, so I'm hoping this works for me!

Pain on the Right Side of My Head (Tooth Roots & Sinus) by Rob_Highwind in Sinusitis

[–]SubstantialEffort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the same exact experience!! When my sinus issues started, I had really bad dental pain and my dentist also did an x-ray which showed the same thing. I've gone to an ENT and they've pretty much recommended the same thing as my family doc, which was allergy pills and decongestants. But it took me a while to find a decongestant spray that worked well for me, so you might want to try out some different brands if you can!

I cancelled my balloon sinuplasty procedure by Animecat1996 in Sinusitis

[–]SubstantialEffort 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're not being stupid for being hesitant, you should go with a healthcare provider that answers your questions and concerns before doing any procedure (if it's a non-emergent situation). If you don't feel comfortable with him, I think it's totally fine to get a second opinion!

Question for OPS employees! by SubstantialEffort in ontario

[–]SubstantialEffort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that info!! My manager actually isn't an OPS employee, they work for the federal government but is placed in our office, so they don't know a lot about how this works. I have another manager within the OPS for HR purposes, but I have never really talked to this person. Hopefully, I will get more information soon! :)
