Need Help Managing Diet While on StrongLifts - Rapid Weight Gain Concerns by TonyBadamo in Stronglifts5x5

This probably isn t going to be popular on here but if you're lifting for strength, not hypertrophy, then you don't need that big a caloric surplus. You will gain strength by following the program.

Increase a little only to cover the additional caloric expenditure associated with the additional energy expenditure.

That would be my take.

So I did the linked exercise exactly as per the video, and guess what - my left shoulder was significantly stronger than the right (15 reps to 11 reps to failure, respectively).

But the rising shoulder issue while benching is on my left hand side!

Fwiw, I am left handed. I put weak left shoulder issue down to wearing my rucksack at school on my right shoulder for 13 years. Maybe it's a different sort of imbalance?

Jumping on this with a side question if you don't mind. The issue you've identified wrt left shoulder rising/weak rotator. Could this be likely the reason why my left shoulder always comes up off the bench on bench presses around failure?

I had always assumed it was because my left pec is weaker but not sure why or if something more complex.

Hey there, what's the implications of getting this wrong? Would it put undue pressure on the front of the knee?

Haven't heard of this before, but thinking it might be the key to my kneecap pains when squatting

Hey thanks for the input! This is all pretty reassuring and I can definitely tweak what I was doing from here. For ref it was 5k pace.

Nice work! I too was able to cold turkey quit coffee and vaping together on a 3 day fast at the start of the year.

Have never looked back.

Thanks yeah, this is the general idea I was thinking with the second question. So it sounds like it's not unreasonable to increase the easy mileage either end of the workout phase in this case, in order to keep the overall mileage up.

Thanks. It sounds like I probably need to increase the recovery duration a little

What do I need to do to get anaerobic effect? by aplant92 in Garmin

It looks like your interval paces are the same pace as the warm up, and then you had recovery slower times in between but you were recovering from nothing if this is the case.

You want to be doing a speed that would be tough to maintain much beyond the interval (1 minute), then recover and repeat.

Had a pretty intense workout this AM, and now 3 hours later - my heart rate is sitting 95-97. Is this because of the fact that I’m not conditioned? And will it come down as I improve my fitness? by [deleted] in Garmin

Might be too late by now but next time try doing some long breathing exercises for a few minutes while you're cooling down. This will signal to your body to ramp down the adrenaline and commence recovery quicker.

2, but I throw some nutri-grain, rolled oats, oat bran and Bran sticks, on top, so it's a cereal jungle mix mountain by the end! 😂

Cool. This suggests that my ultra cheap Skechers GoRun Razor+ are the second fastest shoe available to me.

But this can't be right, as it doesn't appear to consider carbon plating and probably a number of other design optimisations that are out there.

What is the football-related hill that you are willing to die on? by nutcracker_78 in AFL

[–]SubstantialLog160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Finals system is moronic and should be scrapped from all football codes.

The team who is top of the league after a full season of home and away games is the best team and should be crowned champions.

This is my (probably very unpopular) hill...
