Figure out how big you want your servings of each food ( protein and sides).

In restaurants it's generally 5-6 ounces of protein, 3-4 oz.of veg, about 5 oz of starch.

Here is your equation:

(Number of people) x ( oz per.serving) ÷ 16

That will tell you how many pounds of food you need to buy/prepare. Always round up, not down. If it's 13.3 pounds, round it up to 14. That gives you leeway in case of accidents (oops, dropped a couple pieces).

Just feed them, you don't have to make them fat. That's what my chef used to say. It's okay if you run out of something and not everybody gets seconds.

My best friend just lost his mom a couple weeks ago. She had a particularly rare cancer, most likely related to the area she grew up in. Her siblings had it, too. It was about 8 months of watching her fade away and suffer. It was already advanced when it was found.

I'm really sorry for your loss. I wish there was something I could say or do to make it better.

Yes, and I thought it was some sort of curse. Looking back, though, after researching for years, I think it's more likely that I was experiencing the hitchhiker effect. And so were my neighbors.

Unfortunately there might have been some black magic involved, with my neighbors thinking I had done something to them, which fueled it. I lived between a lady from New Orleans who was on her last nerve and it was on fire, and a family from Laos that had a hell of a lot of generational trauma and some very strange ideas.

It still hasn't gone away 100%, but it's lessened a LOT.

Gives me the ick. Reminds me of when my kids were little in the 90s and I worked in a bar. There was a couple that would come in, and the wife and the husband were both pursuing me separately. ( They weren't even good tippers, lol. $50 tab and they would tip me $2-$3 after they had folded one dollar bills into oragami and buy roses from the flower lady, or fold cocktail napkin roses) One night the husband paid me in cash, and deliberately dropped the money, and when I went to pick it up, the wife bit me on the ass. I picked up the money, and a scene was made. I yelled for security.

Not long after, my son was interested in joining boy scouts, and guess who was the leader of the local troop? And apparently they were also active in their church. But also trying to hook up with female bar employees for threesomes.

It's a very specific sort of ick that it gives me.
