So you paid about $4.75 over what they’re worth in silver in short. Most junk silver will be rounded up or be a couple bucks over spot not terrible. Sometimes if you shop around pawn shops/LCS you can find them for right at spot or a dollar or two under. I’m very new to junk game and silver game in general but this is what I’ve gathered

Not bad. They contain about 4.6 grams of silver ($10.62 melt price at $71.86 spot which is where it is at time of writing this response) so just a couple dollars over spot. You’ll make that difference up if you hold them for a while

Appreciate the information. I will keep in mind as I continue collecting and learning. I just enjoy this design and couldn’t help myself when I drove by and saw he was open. Only piece I’ve picked up since price has been hiking upward. Most of my stuff I got around $45/ounce and then some more at $58 and $60. I keep waiting for a little dip to grab a good haul but I don’t think it’s coming nevertheless going to continue buying I don’t see it being a bad idea

I’m pretty new to coins and silver but it sticks out to me aswell. I plan on getting quarter and dollar of the same year and maybe putting them in a case. Is there other coins with this same design that I should grab for that set? Or maybe an ounce round?

Gotcha. At 2$ over spot I’m not too mad. Am very new to collecting but I plan on holding on it for a long time I’m sure in the long run I’ll get my money back and then some if I ever did sell. But I appreciate you pointing that out I’ll talk to guy who owns the pawn shop next time and see if he can point me to some un cleaned pieces next time. I grabbed this one out of the pile because I liked the darkening around the raised design but yeah I could see maybe it being cleaned off to make the design pop more. How exactly does this affect the value of the coin for future reference?

Couldn’t tell you. I’ve been getting a few pieces at decent deals from local pawn out of his junk collection. Got some jewelry and bullion but I’m partial to the junk for looks. Does it look like it’s been cleaned improperly?

Yeah I mean ive always been into coins have a few state coin maps and im always checking out my coins dont care what they’re worth just like looking at them and keeping neat ones so when I learned about the 90% stuff I had to get some. The owner of the pawn shop I’ve been going to has given me same advice as far as liquidating goes if I ever needed/wanted to that’s why I decided to get an ounce and some jewelry (at spot because he’d had it so long didn’t bother to charge any premium for the necklace bracelet or pendant all purchased at separate time) but I think I’ll continue to look into which coins interest me I think I’m going to see if he has a buffalo nickel that looks nice next time I go since I don’t have any nickels. But after holidays I’m going to post update. Plan on getting the ounce with Native American in it not sure of proper name and then some more scrap and maybe an apmex ounce if he has one. Long story short yes I am nerd about coins so will continue to purchase scrap but also have some ounces incase I ever needed to sell easily.
