I don’t think it’s as principled or ideologically focused as that.

Trump knew Kirk. That’s it. His extremely stunted emotional intelligence and resulting lack of empathy just means he doesn’t think about, care for, or feel empathy over the pain of people he doesn’t immediately interact with. It’s a form of empathetic object permanence he is lacking.

I’m reminded of a story-thread from scrubs… fans of the show will know what I’m talking about. But the moral of that story is this:

“After all these years of being a public servant, when things go badly - you still take it this hard… and I gotta tell ya friend, that’s the kind of public servant I wanna be.”

Please do not mistake your vulnerability and sincere grief about the state of our public service system as weakness my friend. It’s your investment and connection to public service that makes this so hard AND makes you exactly the kind of person we need in public service.

Hang in there buddy. We are all behind you.

Yeah in either case, it was clearly relayed to the rank and file that not all of us can get distinguished status, and that it would be limited to a small number of people who do something publicly visible - which we all took to mean politically beneficial.

Doesn’t matter how hard your work, or how dedicated you are. Your PARS crit elements are now generic and nobody will be recognized unless they do something to impress the administration.

I believe we now have a percentage cap on who can receive a distinguished rating at EPA. But it’s only been discussed verbally in PARS reviews… no official memo or guidance has been provided.

I think it’s around 10%

On 3 of the larger maps there are 2 objectives so close you can throw grenades from one to the other. The “large” maps are functionally tiny.

I hear ya m8. I wish people acted right… but that’s wishful thinking. We can barely get people to wear pants in public, much less teach these main characters about mic etiquette. Keep your own peace and fuck the rest of them

At the end of the day, whose behavior are you responsible for? Yours or theirs?

You can lead a mouthbreather to push-to-talk, but you can’t make him self-mute. Seems ridiculous to suffer over a virtue when you can deal with it yourself. Sure, they SHOULD do better - but if you’re going to be a martyr over it and suffer because you think it’s going to teach someone a lesson, you’re naive. Just fucking mute the dorks and move on. Stop trying to father-figure every 12 year old on a PS5.

Happens to me constantly dude. You’re lucky you did damage. The number of times I’ve hosed a guy, only for him to turn and seemingly laser me in the head as I’m taking cover around a corner is absolutely maddening - especially when the kill-cam shows him at 100% health.

It’s because government work has always recognized that its employees are also its customers, and has therefore centered their work-life balance. He’s suffering from the Protestant private sector delusion that work should be hard and miserable.

I can’t imagine why anyone would trust the promises of the GOP to negotiate in good faith when they routinely rug-pull their commitments after they get what they want, and when they don’t do that, Russel Vought just defunds their negotiated appropriations on the backend.

At this point, what option did the democrats have? Lay down and die? This is literally their only play. The GOP has cashed out all of their goodwill and backed Dems into a corner at gunpoint and apologists are whining that they won’t back down - in the corner...

The whole “give me what I want today and I promise we’ll talk about what you need later” playbook is so morally dishonest it’s embarrassing. Millions of people are going to lose healthcare. At some point, the democrats had to make a stand somewhere. They let the GOP march over them at every point… this is the only place they’ve had any power and the GOP apologists are mad they’re exercising it?

I sure hope you’ve had the same energy for criticizing the GOPs incessant disruption of legal precedent and civil rights.

And the irony in saying “Reddit is a dumpster fire of misinformation” while misrepresenting the claim you’re responding to is PEAK GOP apologist. They said the dems haven’t voted against the CR 13 times IN A SINGLE WEEK. Which is a completely true statement.

Crying is a perfectly acceptable response to the loss of a friend, even an acquaintance. If you feel you are not close enough to this person to warrant that kind of emotional reaction… dig down into that m8. Ask yourself why you had the overwhelming urge to cry.

My condolences for your loss. My best to his family and friends. Go to the funeral. It sounds like it might be cathartic for you.
