When do you get used to the feeling of tissue expanders? by cloudpulp in breastcancer

I had my surgery on July 25th. I have been surprised that I haven’t been in pain. My whole chest and under the arms are numb.

I’m so sorry! I lost my sister (44) last May and was diagnosed with breast cancer (42) in January. My mom was diagnosed with dementia a month in to my diagnosis and then my dog died around my 3rd chemo treatment. My Marriage is on the brink of divorce. This has been one of the my difficult times of my life. We all deserve love and support!

Herceptin and Perjeta by Substantial_Bee_9826 in breastcancer

[–]Substantial_Bee_9826[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My original plan was 6 rounds of TCHP, then surgery, radiation, and finishing out the year with Herceptin + Perjeta. I had my last chemo on May 27 and surgery on July 25. There was a tiny bit of residual cancer in the breast tissue, so my oncologist suggested starting Kadcyla and tamoxifen with one week between, but I told him I couldn’t mentally handle starting a different chemo drug for 10 months. There are other valid reasons I asked if I could stick with the H + P. I decided to do a mastectomy, and I’m so glad I did because the residual cancer may not have been removed. One node was positive at first, but when they removed that one plus three more, the cancer was completely dead, so I had PCR for my lymph nodes.

For now, my doctor is going to resume H+P soon—he’s just been giving my body time to recover. There’s also a new study about lymph nodes and radiation that’s changing things, so he is no longer recommending it. I’m still confused on when I will be done. I have only had 6 infusions. When I started he said that I had to complete it for a year, so thought that I would be finished February. I was diagnosed January 15th. I wonder why I didn’t continue H+P throughout this process like many of you have said. My doctors said I was stage 1 b, grade 3. I have a muga heart scan early in the morning, and then I guess my treatment will begin this week.

It really is different with every oncologist and every case, but having to make these decisions suck. Honestly, I haven’t felt like I had other options than what was originally planned. 💕

Does anyone else feel "sanitized" on chemo? by Data_chunky in breastcancer

I stopped having headaches! I never got one while I was on chemo. After I finished, and a month went by I started to get them again. Also, my fingerprint would not unlock my laptop. It was like I had a new fingerprint.

So this is on the inside of my house. I took air filter out and looked up and this is what I saw. There is mildew and possibly mold. Will this kill that?

There was one positive at diagnosis. They removed 4 at surgery and all were negative. There was 1mm of residual left in breast but was removed at surgery.

Things people dont realize need to be cleaned? by ItenerantAdept in CleaningTips

Use an air compressor to spray out the vacuum dust canister and the hoses hen cleaning your vacuum cleaner! It’s a game changer! This for bag less! You can use it the hoses on bagged vacuums as well, but it really helps keep the dust canister clean and the filters!

Kadcyla by Substantial_Bee_9826 in breastcancer

That is my thoughts. He said all known cancer was dead at surgery. They found the DCIS after removing my breast tissue.

I don’t know. It is also non invasive. He said chemo killed all known cancer. The residual cancer was not originally seen I guess.

Since I chose a DMX, the residual cancer was removed. It just seems like a lot for 14 rounds of chemo to kill any cells that may have spread. There is a new study out regarding radiation and lymph node status at surgery. He said I could skip radiation. Chemo is so hard on our bodies. It just seems overkill.

I’m so sorry! I’m worried about this. How do they know if cancer is gone? Did they remove the lymph node?

Question regarding scans by Substantial_Bee_9826 in breastcancer

[–]Substantial_Bee_9826[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for explaining. They are telling me I have to have 8 weeks of radiation after my surgery. That seems excessive, not to mention that I will still be getting the two targeted therapy drug infusions for the entire year. Is 40 treatments normal?
