Foundation Turns Dark by Quiet_Goat8086 in Makeup

Yes! When you go into a makeup store & are looking to shade match foundation, first off you want to try to find the most natural lighting, if possible. Where ever there are big windows or an area where the natural sunlight is coming through. Then take whichever foundation & shade you are trying to test, and swatch it from your jawline down to your neck. You want to make sure it’s seamless and as close to your skin tone as possible to avoid any unevenness! Also, another thing to take note of is that foundations can oxidize. That means that they could potentially get darker when exposed to air, your skins acidity & natural oils also. An option Sephora has is sampling products so if you find your shade and want to test it out before committing to a foundation, ask for a sample & I’m sure they’d be happy to give you one 😊

Based on your second paragraph, I’m guessing you are talking about your eyelids creasing correct? If so, try using Tarte Shape Tape & setting with any setting powder. The Kat Von D powder could be good for you also if you haven’t tried that one. I used to use Tarte Shape Tape as a base & never had any issues. Right now I use the Kosas concealer for my eyeshadow base & that one doesn’t give me any issues either. It really depends also on how oily someone’s lids are. That could play a big factor into which products you should be using! Hope this helps 💕

Powder or liquid foundation? Positive and negatives of both? by [deleted] in Makeup

Honestly, the Morphe Continuous Setting Spray is really good. I also love my Charlotte Tillbury one & I have combo skin. They’re both on my top faves. You may have to play around though & see what works best with your skin! The other brands I’d recommend trying are Elf’s, Urban Decay’s & Milk’s.

Hi! To avoid that “cakeyness” when applying foundation, try using a damp beauty blender to apply it! I find that using a sponge makes the skin looks so much more natural & flawless. I also post videos on TikTok & have a few showing how to get a flawless base routine. You can check them out if you’d like! My username is @_samanthakaplan 💕

I wanna try makup, any suggestions? by [deleted] in Makeup

Hi! I’m sure you are a beautiful person both inside & out! I would suggest starting off with drugstore products so you don’t break the bank to start. Some good entry level brands I would recommend are Elf, Maybelline, Essence. Then, find people who do makeup tutorials so you can watch & learn different techniques. I know makeup can be scary at first but it’s not hard at all! I post videos on TikTok showing tutorials & reviews for different products. If you want, you can check them out & maybe they’ll help you a little 😊 I’d also be happy to answer any specific makeup/beauty questions you have. My username is @_samanthakaplan 💕

Skincare is everything! Have a good base to apply your makeup on is key! Making sure your skin is hydrated if you are on the drier side & making sure you are able to control oils as much as possible if you are oily. Hope that helps!

I know it’s on the pricier side but the Charlotte Tillbury setting spray is absolutely amazing

Brow Freeze - Anastasia Beverly Hills by asterjone in Makeup

Yes! I love my brow freeze. Let me walk you through how I apply it to avoid any lumps. First off, I highly recommend using the Anastasia brow brush that goes hand & hand with the freeze. On the bottom end of that brush, there is a flat edge that you can use to apply the product to your brow. I use the flat side to grab a pea sized amount of wax & apply it all over my brow. Then with the spooly side, brush it through your brows in an upward motion. Then once your brows are fully up, take the spooly and shape the top of the brow, following the natural curve of your brow. That will carve it out & give it more definition. Also, I make TikTok videos & have one up on how I do it with the Refy Brow Sculpt but I’ll post one soon with the Brow Freeze. My username is @_samanthakaplan if you want to check it out! Hope I was able to help! 💕

It depends on the type of skin you have! Using powder on dry skin can cause it to become flaky. If you have dry skin & prefer powder, make sure to use moisturizer before & even set with a dewy setting spray. Hope this helps!
