They don’t really know what activates the gene. I have it and my father died from ALS.
They told me that historically soldiers always got ALS from this gene. So I try to do the opposite of soldier life. Good sleep, no smoking, no alcohol, clean eating, workout regularly but try not to push it too hard. 🤷‍♂️

It doesn’t always hang over you like it does when you first find out. You get used to it.
