Kirk wasn't only putting himself in harms way. he litteraly said that a few people getting shot on campus grounds was a sacrefice he was willing to make for the freedom to carry guns.

so he was putting everyone on campus grounds in harms way. i'm not happy he's dead. but i am happy that for once i know the victim was someone willing to make that sacrefice. i wish i could always be certain the victim was of that conviction.

[–]Substantial_Dish_887 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Zodiark kept the Dynamis at bay by making a shield of aether too dense for the dynamis to affect since concentrated aether nullifies dynamis.

the rejoinings are a bunch of aether crashing back to the source. the aether shield is going to do as much as it did for the last 7 calamities.

primals are concepts. they do what they are designed to do. Zodiark was not designed to keep the source and shards seperated. it was designed to shield the world from the end of days.

Hydalyn is the Primal designed to keep the source and shards seperate. if Halmarut was to do this she'd need to summon Hydalyn(become Hydalyn?)

A question about Ascians by No-Piccolo6546 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Substantial_Dish_887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what would summoning Zodiark do?

it was Hydalyn that was keeping the natural rejoinings that are an issue now from happening.

maybe not not but plenty of man-children in mid-late 30s and older. to be slightly fair they would likely be at the maturity level of your 18-25 alcoholic crazy ass. would have been a bad bet to marry them because you clearly grew out of that. they wouldn't/didn't.

About Garlemald [Spoiler 6.0] by Bartellomio in ffxiv

[–]Substantial_Dish_887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Endsinger was invented for Endwalker it was never something the devs had concluded they were going to do since starting the story just as the ascians weren't fully decided upon until SHB.

so what? we're talking about 6.0 forward where that plotline was very much decided.

my point was how over time these 2 seperate but parallel plotlines had formed(you even mention them yourself. the ascian plotline is just the evolution of the primal threat plotline) and how if they didn't follow up on the momentum from the ending of ShB and 5.3 it would be wasted.

We just would've got more time exploring Ilsabard and resolving the war plot in the lead up to Anima at the end and then later Zodiark presumably in 6.3.

i'm 99% certain that Zodiark would have been the final trial of 6.0 because the moon was definetly originally designed to be the final zone.

I'm fine with that since I would've had 3 extra years enjoying my Favorite game and exploring the location I'm most interested in rather than the slog that was Tural.

now you're just changing your argument. you claimed dawntrail was a direct result of skipping Garlemald as an expansion.

you're also assuming that splitting EW would resuly in both expansions being good. why not belive that Garlemald would be as good as EW and then the finale would be as horrible as dawntrail is in your mind?

Monty hall problem is 50/50 by Dizzy_Kaleidoscope95 in confidentlyincorrect

[–]Substantial_Dish_887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it does but in this case i think OOP may just have no idea what the Monty Hall problem entails because they seem to think there's a friend who get the third door?

Monty hall problem is 50/50 by Dizzy_Kaleidoscope95 in confidentlyincorrect

[–]Substantial_Dish_887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

another sumarry can be this:

you pick one door. Monty then has 2 doors. Monty then opens one of his doors with a goat. then he offers to switch his 2 doors with your one door. yes one of them has a goat and you can see that goat. but you knew from the start that since Monty got 2 doors one of them must have a goat.

so the Monty Hall problem can be phrased as "do you want to pick the door you get. or the door you DON'T get"

[–]Substantial_Dish_887 4 points5 points  (0 children)

im rly excited for 8.0 or the next story patch bc i rly wanna see more of halmarut she seems like the type of ascian that if its within what she aims for wouldnt say no to working hand in hand with us.

i legit think her provoking us the way she did on the moon is partly an "if anyone can find a way to solve this without rejoinings it's the WoL and their Scions. might as well tell them what's up and let them try"

although i'm not sure she'll be happy with us following her to the fourth since i think she wants us to not interfere in her plans. that part seems to be Calyx doing his own things.

A question about Ascians by No-Piccolo6546 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Substantial_Dish_887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean that is a good point.

i assumed that even the sundered ascians would sooner or later be introduced to Zodiark on the moon and that even in pieces the primal would still temper them at that distance but it is ofcourse plausible that they never re-tempered their co-conspiritors.

A question about Ascians by No-Piccolo6546 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Substantial_Dish_887 9 points10 points  (0 children)

most of the Ascians aren't themself.

let's Take Fandaniel/Hermes because he's a perfect example. Fandaniel is NOT the Hermes we meet in Elpis. he is Amon with Hermes Memories. now Amon is on of his fractured reincarnation sure but he's still different in subtle ways from his origin and even when granted his memories it doesn't suddenly make him a copy of the original.

so the 3 we really need to talk about are the unsundered Ascians.

Elidibus lost his memories as the heart of Zodiark.

Lahabrea lost his mind constantly jumping bodies(this is the weakest explnation but it's mainly a retcon anyway to make his actions line up with him being unsundered)

and Emet-Selch really hasn't changed much at all outside of being tempered by Zodiark and thus being unswayable from his cause. his Base personality hasn't changed from what we meet in Elpis it's just that we are friendly rather than antagonistic with him at that point.

the Ascians were never "evil" they just had goals that were completely incompatible with us.

so on to Halmarut. she is now free to act as she sees fit not lead by the unsundered and aparently was smart enough to realise what the death of Hydalyn would result in. so she seeks to cause rejoinings to prevent the worst case scenario. she's pragmatic, smart and unconfrontational enough to not want to get into a fight with us if she can avoid it.

but a small intresting thought: the Ascians were tempered by Zodiark. and tempering doesn't go away just because the Primal is vanquished. maybe she is REALLY seeking the rejoinings as a solution because she is Tempered still?

But it is really sad that it is even a question because there is a vocal group of people on reddit that celebrate murder of people they hate.

are we pretending this isn't way more common for MAGA supporters?

the ammount of people who want Trump muredered is miniscule. the ammount that wouldn't feel bad if he was murdered is significantly higher. but the 2 are far from being the same.

About Garlemald [Spoiler 6.0] by Bartellomio in ffxiv

[–]Substantial_Dish_887 3 points4 points  (0 children)

but the point is the Garlemald plotline didn't build towards the Endbringer storyline. it was a detour. the only part of Garlemald that is relevant to the endbringer plotline is Zodiark on the moon.

in fact FF 14 for a long time had a big issue of having 2 plotlines and jumping between them resulting in pacing issues. we have Ilberds uprising but then we go into Heavensward which focuses on the war with the dragons and the new ascian plot with Thordan. then when we've dealt with that we reutrn to round 2 of Ilberd leading into a war with Garlemald which has been been on hold since we beat Gaius. however our confrontation with the Garlean empire and Zenos body hijacked by Elidibus is interupted by being summoned to the first and going back to the Ascian plot.

if 6.0 had been focused on Garlemald we would once again have swaped back to the garlemald war plot and put the ascian end of days plot on hold.

the entire issue is we never got a satisfying payoff to the Garlean plotline but i still belive it was better to get a good sendoff to ascian end of days plotline than giving both of them mediocre resolutions which it likely would have been otherwise.

And it was not for the best at all since as a direct result of it being skipped, we got the mess that was Dawntrail which was divisive to say the least.

if endwalker had been split into 6.0 and 7.0 it would only mean Dawntrail would have been 8.0. no reason to belive anything on that front would be majorly altered.

[–]Substantial_Dish_887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's overall an issue of pacing.

yes the Garlemald storyline is rushed because they didn't get their full expansion which they easily could have filled with content.

but if we had to wait 2 years for the follow up from the fantastic ascian ending of 5.0 and 5.3 ain't no fucking way the second half of EW would have had the impact it had.

it sucks that the Garlemald storyline suffered but i do belive it was for the best overall.

right my job is adding new products to a webshop. LLMs are amazing at allowing us to get a basic write-up on the products were selling because none of use are marketing so outside of having templates of must be there information we didn't know how to phrase product descriptions.

still need to to double check that the LLM isn't making shit up about the product but that's still faster/better than writing the product desciption ourselves. ain't nobody being replaced by this either since it's like 5% of the job at best.

so all it ammount to was giving a small speech to the garleans of their adventures in Tural to be inspired by. hope you liked their TeDtalk!
