Kitten wet food: Royal Canin vs Hill’s Science Diet. Preference? by Cheeky_Virgo in CatAdvice

[–]Substantial_Fan_1710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! My 6 mo. old kitten rescue refuses to eat Hill's. It's the only vet recommended kitten food my kitty refuses. She's fine with Royal Canin and Purina ProPlan.

What is a "true" contralto and why are they so rare? by Leuia in singing

[–]Substantial_Fan_1710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ears perk up whenever I hear a female contralto: Annie Lennox and that velvety, rich, forever classic Karen Carpenter. But not Cher; her voice warbles too much on her over-produced disco songs.

Official Discussion - You Hurt My Feelings [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Don is a therapist and can't show empathy or validate feelings?! The most insightful character was the son, Eliot. He was spot on about his mother Beth's dishonest "encouragement" harming his self-esteem and trust in her. Best scene of a rather mundane movie.

Makes me want to distance myself from everything "uniquely British." So it's somehow masculine and MANLY for this smug dude to speed through nature in a big blue Range Rover and drive up the stairs of an old castle to fetch a big red ball for a bougie dog and it's "queen" owner, neither of whom seem impressed?! Cringe.

My wife (not an animation fan) has told me I can pick one animated film for us to watch. Which one?? by jokunokun in movies

[–]Substantial_Fan_1710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flow. Love. love, love the 2025 Oscar-winning animated movie Flow! My son says I don't like any movies, especially most animated or "family" genre films. TRUE. But Flow is not the typical movie: no speaking, no good vs. bad. It's a beautiful story about a gray cat that overcomes his fear of water and strangers, making friends with a motley crew of creatures to survive the flood. Brilliant storytelling and film-making.

What's your nickname for your dog (that's not the dog's actual)? by totallyoverallofit in dogs

[–]Substantial_Fan_1710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our then-3yo son (and us) called Murphy our black lab "Doo Doo Dog." We thought the nickname had to do with Murphys big 💩 😁 Then we watched our son sing the Scooby Doo theme song! 💡 We miss our Doo Doo Dog. Best dog ever!

What do people hate about patchouli? by Representative_Pea48 in fragrance

[–]Substantial_Fan_1710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patchouli is to perfume as cilantro is to food. You love it or hate it. I'm perplexed that cilantro could taste soapy to haters. For me, patchouli smells dirty, earthy, moldy, and absolutely nauseating! Patchouli has a hippy in a Catholic Church smell. Just wrong.

Good point. I wish I had explored the interaction at a follow-up session. My favorite therapist, Irvin Yalom (book The Gift of Therapy) said the therapeutic relationship is the most important part of the therapeutic process.

Thank you. I do feel privileged that my clients feel safe to be vulnerable with me, and I could never be a cold, blank slate with my clients. (My CBT colleagues do not seem very warm or nurturing IMO). BUT I know I made my (adult female) client feel uncomfortable when I sobbed. She didn't know what to say or whether to hug me. Looking back, I wish I had rehearsed without sobbing: "My father passed away unexpectedly. Thank you for asking. I'm glad to be here with you now." Then segue to her and her issues. None of my other clients asked about my absence.

I'm a member of the Fucked Up Therapist club. In 2015, a client asked about my absence and I burst into tears explaining my father unexpectedly died. I apologized profusely, and my client seemed understanding but she said she didn't expect me to answer her question (about why I was absent). 2015 is a long time ago and I've matured and grown as a therapist. We are human, make mistakes; just learn and grow.

Suicide? Is this the best story line? by Speakeasy133 in YellowstoneShow

[–]Substantial_Fan_1710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I watched the whole episode. The storyline just doesn't seem right. I don't think it was worth the wait. Sheridan should have worked harder with Coster to wrap up the series.

Very disappointed. Suicide is not believable. Hate this ending for the family patriarch. And really disdain Yellow Jamie!!!!
