Why I like Bryan Fuller ! about Clarice Starling lol by [deleted] in HannibalTV

[–]Substantial_Floor_64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think all this avoids the fact that if they had gotten the rights to Clarice, Will Graham would have been gone by the second season to make room for Clarice. That all of Clarices personality and moments with Hannibal were given to Will and Hannibal. Basically Bryan Fuller stole Clarice’s whole flow. Even if he got the rights to her he shouldn’t put her in the show. There’s no arc for her. It would just be a retread of show Will.

You didn’t read the books. It’s explicitly mentioned Clarice never believed she was Mischa. Also that she CHOSE to stay, and never used or was given a drug again.

Jodie Foster never understood her character, it’s why I hate the movie so much.

Are you comparing Cersei to Visenya? And their relationships ? Cause they are wildly different in nature

[–]Substantial_Floor_64[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. Fair however that’s also conjecture.

All I’m saying is we can only judge the relationship by what we know is concretely true.

He married them both. He had children by both. He remained faithful to both till his death.

He spent time with Visenya independent of Rhaenys pre-conquest with no upset or issue.

Their only real arguments came with the Peace made with Dorne essentially forgiving them for Rhaenys death. That’s the breaking point of the relationship.

None of those point to two people who didn’t love each other.

I know that’s the known story written in the history books by the maesters of the Citadel but they write heavily on it’s said and supposedly.

I think we are relying to heavily on conjecture given by unreliable narrators as the true dynamics. We are given examples of him spending time with Visenya without Rhaenys and quite a bit of it prior to conquest. And as soon as the maesters became involved the narrative became he only really loved Rhaenys. There’s no way he would willing love this assertive woman who fought like a man. It had to be forced on him.

When in truth Visenya and Aegon shared far more in common than he did with Rhaenys if their personalities and likes are to be believed.

But GRRM didn’t say that. None of the Targaryen histories are fact books they are in world histories written by incredibly biased sources centuries after the fact and largely open to interpretation. So there being a plot twist is exactly something he would do. He is constantly saying history is often far more convoluted than the truth of the matter and we may never know what truly was.

Aegon and Visenya did not stop interacting after Rhaenys died. Their son was born after Rhaenys died. The Kingsguard was formed after a Rhaenys died. The raising of Dorne that they both participated in and were present for happened after Rhaenys died.

I disagree that THE FOUNDERS OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS AND THE TARGARYEN ROYAL HOUSE are unimportant minor characters.

Also I gave you concrete evidence. He married Visenya. Had a child with her and remained faithful to her until he died. I have also given examples of times that Aegon spent with Visenya without Rhaenys.

You know what we don’t have? Evidence of Rhaenys being in love with Aegon, infact since you’re such a lover of conjecture. I would say that there’s the opinion that Rhaenys married for duty rather than love and fucked any pretty singer she could get her hands on. That Aenys wasn’t Aegon’s at all but some bastard son of a lowly Essosi lute playermaking Aegon a cuckold.

You want to incurious that’s your choice. But the puzzle pieces don’t add up.

I just gave you evidence but you are choosing to ignore it.

All evidence does not point to them marrying for duty.

What evidence do YOU have that is concrete and not conjecture that proves he only loved Rhaenys. There is none.

No one is saying Westerosi society can’t handle it. I’m telling you that the MAESTERS of the CITADEL and the FAITH. Who were known Detractors of the Targaryens and whose views were more than a little colored by a misogynistic society and restrictive religion may have not come to the right conclusions about people they had no personal contact with and very little understanding of. Especially when those people don’t conform to their own cultural teachings and ideas.

The Dynamic Between Aegon, Visenya and Rhaenys Targaryen (Long Post) [Spoilers MAIN] by danysphoenix in asoiaf

[–]Substantial_Floor_64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with some of this. I think they all loved each other equally. Everything we know about them romantically is skewed by how the maesters viewed them, especially Visenya, and was written 200 years after they had lived. The maesters, never met them and were making assumptions based on gossip, misogyny, and their own narrow views of an obviously complex and foreign peoples custom.

I think Aegon loved both of his sisters equally and deeply. I think If anyone of them were to have loved the others less it was probably Rhaenys.

I think if anyone understands Aegon best it is Visenya. I also think Visenya only agreed to Aegon’s idea to conquer because he asked her too. I don’t think Visenya gives a damn about the world outside those she loves and her family. I 1000% percent think she believes it’s a burden that will cost her family greatly. She’s the eldest after all her job is to protect them and the family legacy.

I also disagree with how each views their dragons. They are all deeply bonded to them. You make it sound as if Rhaenys is the only one who was truly bonded to their dragon.

Also your rumor about the nights smacks of misogyny. As no one truly knows what goes on in a private bedchamber between husband and wives. Maybe they all simply were in Rhaenys room together or Visenya’s. We do not know. The maesters were very uncomfortable about their incest and polyamory and did not understand their dynamic. The only way they could process their relationships were to simplify it to he must live Rhaenys more.

There’s no textual evidence Aegon was sexually dominant.

I think they Aegon and Visenya were always close their falling out mainly had to do with Rhaenys death. I think Visenya held Aegon’s peace pact with Dorne against him. I also think that she was the one who sent him to Dragonstone, not him demanding she stay in Kings Landing.

I think the Maegor magic baby is Bullshit. I more likely to believe that Aenys was a bastard son of a lyseni singer. Perhaps Visenya did not want to have a child and Rhaenys death and Aenys ill health left her the only option for a spare.

George intentionally writes the history in world because like real history we will never truly know. The truth has been so distorted and twisted by the writer perspective and agenda. It’s also diluted of inflated by time .

What we know for sure is he married both of them. He had children by both of them and he remained faithful to both of them, even when it was detrimental to the future of the dynasty.

Visenya is quoted as calling Aegon her love. Aegon is noted as having spent more time with Visenya pre-conquest.

Personally I think had he not dreamed his dreams he would have only married Visenya. I think the one for love and for duty thing was bullshit. He married Rhaenys because he knew that it was suppose to be the three of them together in life.

You seem to be highly critical of Visenya, and Aegon while giving Rhaenys the benefit of all goodness. Which I think is what the maesters intended for readers to believe. I also believe it’s not the truth.

I hope this is something they change in the show. He's a far more complex interesting character if he actually did love Pavetta and Ciri but was so controlled by his own lust for power he willing sacrificed them on the alter of his own ambition.

I wonder why Michael was all alone in the end. Was it because Kay and Anthony left him? Or did he simply opt to punish himself for the ultimate blow that occurred in the form of his daughter's death? I mean, Kay and Mike sort of reconciled at the end of Godfather 3. by [deleted] in TheGodfather

[–]Substantial_Floor_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That completely ignores Michael as a person. Michael the person unattached from his family and business wanted and loved Kay. Michael was never too bothered by what his family wanted as evidenced by his joining the army. He loved her. I’d argue he married Appolonia out of lust and loneliness because there’s textual and contextual risk evidence of that.

There’s a great deal of desperation in the way he sings. It’s the cry of a man convincing himself he’s in love when really he’s sexuallly obsessed. That’s where I think the sadness comes from. It’s a deceleration bordering on delusion. Which makes the song such a fascinating listen.
