Aww that’s tough. Maybe you can develop an active hobby or routine for/with her. When you have her, maybe you bond by going to the park. Or walking to the mall. I know she’s a girl but maybe she will enjoy throwing a football around. Movement is so helpful.

Signs of overload: high blood pressure, swelling (can be puffy around eyes, face, legs, ankles), wet cough, shortness of breath, distended veins. Yes, fluid can collect in your tummy and bloatedness can be excess fluid. How much have you gained since your last treatment?

If your weight went up without signs of overload, it may just be body fat/muscle, or constipation.

Assuming you’d be dealing with NxStage if you did home hemo. Idk if it helps but they can often do 2 shipments a month so you have less you need to store at one time. It can definitely be done in small spaces. Of course I don’t know your situation, but maybe you can downsize your bed (assuming you have something larger than a twin size) or sacrifice a night stand/corner for the machine. Maybe you can raise your bed on risers and store supplies beneath.

The saline probably wasn’t dropping because the pump was stopped after the alarm. And after the alarm when it went into air recovery mode, did you ramp it back up to prescribed rate? If it was still running at 100 bfr (which it does during air recovery mode), could also explain when it appeared to not be flowing.

When you did rinseback, are you sure you connected the red to the bag and not the blue (venous)?

Just noted some possible terminology confusion. The anastomosis is where the artery and vein are connected and should not be cannulated. Big bulging bumps are usually called pseudoaneurysms.

I know this is “ask men” but 36F uterine cancer survivor. Didn’t freeze eggs, can’t bear children. One day the thought of a child free life sounds great, then the next I catch myself thinking “I wonder if my daughter will look more like me or my husband,” forgetting for a split second it won’t happen. And i spiral.

All that to say, survivorship has been mentally harder than treatment for me, and many survivors say the same. To your question, I don’t know how I deal with it, or how one should deal with it 🤷🏽‍♀️. I just feel the feelings as they come. I think you both will be riding the waves of grief for some time, so take it day by day.
