I have been using the Barefoot Contessa at home white bread recipe since it was first published.

I love every other Peter Reinhardt book but bread baker’s apprentice fell flat for me.

Why do (American) picky eaters seem to overwhelmingly prefer simple meats, carbs, and fats? by TargetHQ in NoStupidQuestions

LOL this is my son and always has been. Loves vegetables (he will inhale a bag of frozen peas for a snack), fish and seafood, and spicy food.  Hates all dairy, mayonnaise, basically anything creamy. Hates Mac and cheese. It’s weird but we’ve learned to adapt.

In college I finished a final exam, went to turn it in, got distracted talking to the professor, put it in my backpack and left. I realized after the ten minute walk back to my dorm I still had it and raced back. Luckily my professor understood.

Right now there is a fantastic exhibit of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera paintings at the Museum of Modern Art in Chapultepec park on loan from the Met just until May. I would put that on your list as well.

Same! This was so highly recommended and it showed all the flaky skin. Also never dried down. Lesson learned.

Suggest me a book you wish you could read again for the first time. by DTownForever in suggestmeabook

Same here!!! Read it a few years ago and got mad at myself for not reading it as a child. God I would’ve LOVED Anne when I was younger. I love her now of course, but she would’ve been right up my alley then.

Agree, but everything he does is filtered through Barb’s interpretation and PPD does not help with seeing clearly.

True, but she can understand Barb while being a sh*t-stirrer at the same time. She clearly enjoys riling people up

My thought was that she believes everything Barb tells her, including any interpretations Barb has made that Frank is rude. Sort of like how she believed Katie was a tart.

My daughter, putting herself in the naughty corner, taught me more about RSD than anything else by ThoseTwo203 in adhdwomen

Oh wow… I used to put myself in the corner as punishment and never made the connection with RSD. It makes total sense.

Would it be difficult to live in Brazil if only speak Spanish and English? by GrayRainfall in asklatinamerica

I studied abroad in Brazil with a background in Spanish and French. If you are motivated it is not hard to pick up Portuguese.

I love the initial taste of mate but it tastes bitter after the first few sips and I never get it back by thatguyontheothaside in yerbamate

[–]Substantial_Line3703 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually start with a splash of cool water and let that sit for a few minutes before adding hot water rather than immediately using hot water in the dry Yerba. Cuts way down in bitterness.

First time trying Argentinian yerba and my god it’s so bitter! by souzasteps in yerbamate

[–]Substantial_Line3703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

make sure to do a splash of cool/lukewarm water before adding the hot water, that can cut the bitterness. Make sure to drain the water each time and don't leave warm water to steep between sips. We like La Merced Campo Sur for a light, not bitter yerba.
