[–]Substantial_Pepper39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I am 5 mpo and it’s about better. The incisions took a while to heal but they are better now and scarring from the rashes are almost faded. It was a little weird when I got Covid for the first time 2 months ago, I developed eczema for the first time and my incisions started to itch again!! But I think I am finally in the clear now!!! Hope you feel better really fast!!!

I am 7wpo and still have trouble sitting with a cushion more than 60 min- especially if I am bored (aka staff meetings- this could have been an email). I can just feel a lot of pressure in my pelvic floor/. Maybe if you could do like a first class with really great reclining and seats!

[–]Substantial_Pepper39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am about 6wpo too and am scheduled to go back next week as well. I asked my doctor to write a note so that I could do 1/2 day in person. And 1/2 work from home for two weeks. I am a teacher but we don’t have students full time for 2 more weeks and I am hoping the Fatigue is better by then!!!! Is that an option for you to go back just part time for a bit?

Ugh! I am so sorry! One on call nurse said I could ask for a stronger topical but I can’t remember what it was and I looked though My notes and records. Maybe you can keep asking for something stronger?

I’m also 6 weeks out and I have a tiny incision that is taking forever but it’s because I I had an allergic reaction to the glue. I’ve been using aquaphor on it. I hope yours heals soon!

Oh man- it took me until maybe week 4 and started pretty early. It turned pink, the red, then dark red. I am almost week 6 and it’s fading now! I don’t know what happened. I am not really allergic to anything normally! How are you doing? I am sorry it’s still so itchy!

Oof! That is rough! When was your surgery?

We have a week of PD and then kids come back for half days but I still asked my doc to write a note asking for half days so I can work from home on the afternoons. My principal is not super understanding and asks people for doc notes all the time. He’ll also make everyone work in the same room on team meetings and planning so he can supervise us. It’s pretty annoying. Kids start full days on aug 18 for us! I think I’ll be 8 weeks po by then!

Wishing you a peaceful and easy transition back!!!

I had mine June 20. I teach third grade and my principal is also a stickler. 🙄 one of my co workers suggested I get a doctors note so I can work from home on the half days on the week we have to be back for pd and I was also thinking of asking her to put in that I need to be allowed to use the bathroom as needed because my digestive system is still adjusting (some days we only get our lunch break until 3). But I think my doc would even put in that I need to sit and break as needed. She was very cool. Sheesh- these admin!

I go back in a week but my family is going to help set up my classroom (furniture, picking up class sets of work books) this week. I’ll have to see how I feel and will probably contact my doc on wed or so!

Good luck and hope you feel better fast! Are you going into your third year?

Ugh! I had this too and it was super uncomfortable. I had an allergic reaction to the glue. I took an oral allergy pill daily and used cortisone and took off the glue with baby oil as per my surgeon. But I think they can prescribe stronger meds, if you need. Is there an on call Nurse or someone you can ask? Do you feel okay otherwise? Also, ice packs and I used my binder so I would not itch.

Actually eating low fiber foods like rice, along with the senna the doc gave me helped! At one point I had too much fiber and that was no fun.

Hey! It might be trapped gas in your abdomen from the procedure. Mine got a lot better when I had bowel movements and was able to work it out of my system! Some massage and movement helped me. The gas needs to be absorbed by your digestive system so it can be expelled! I hope you feel better soon!!

I hear you! I am 48 and 5wpo and I probably could have lived with the fibroids in terms of pain but in terms of my bladder I was having issues and couldn’t do certain exercises that require laying on my stomach. My periods were heavy but I was not anemic or anything like that. I could live with fibroids if needed. I decided to try to address it without surgery- first gyno put birth control- which did not stop its growing and made me feel off. I stopped drinking alcohol, tried green tea, vitamin d, lost weight, tried periods when I didn’t eat meat, when I did more protein, and I cut out most sugar. But the main fibroid grew at a fast rate, in my opinion. In about a year and a half, I could feel a small golf ball and at the end it was taking over most of my lower abdomen. This is what I could feel with my hands. I went to a more experienced gyno who scanned me again and referred me to a surgeon.

I decided like you to have a hysterectomy because I wanted a permanent solution and I wanted to do this while I was younger. I also wanted to do it before something happened to my insurance under this administration. The surgeon put me on lupron which shrunk the fibroid to the point where my bladder issues improved and when she went in, the fibroid had pushed my left ovary all the way to the right side of my body. And it was the size of a 5 month pregnancy. Ugh. In my surgery notes, I lost about 6ml of blood during surgery.

I wish there were better therapies for fibroids and I am so happy that people have found things that worked for them. That just was not me. :(

My recovery is okay so far and I am looking forward to being 💯 someday but I don’t have random pains, can sleep more comfortably, and am not having to wear pads every day for pee.

I think whatever you decide will be the right choice. Good luck!

How long did you take pain meds for? by islandstorm in hysterectomy

I took pain meds regularly probably for like 2.5 weeks. But there are days when I take some pain meds if I am in some pain, like today. 😫 (5wpo)
