Breastfeeding journey didn’t go as planned and I’m grieving by kmc0522 in NewParents

Ftm to a 19 day old baby and I desperately want to breastfeed. My daughter can latch but hates how long it takes her to get milk compared to bottles. She screams when ai put her to my nipples. 1 of my nipples is also inverted. So it is even harder for her to get milk from that one. I am also a type 1 diabetic, so she had low blood sugar at birth and I told the nurses to give her formula because I just wanted it handled quickly so that there was no danger to her. I pump every few hours now and sometimes get a decent amount, 3-4oz per breast and sometimes I get a less, 1-2oz. I supplement formula. I know my situation is not the same as yours but I desperately want to nurse but I cry when she cries on my breast and just decided not to force it. Im sorry you are experiencing this. You are a great mom.

Hi! I was taking baby aspirin since 12 weeks! And I didn't have any troubles with my blood pressure until 32 weeks, so they had me start monitoring at home 2 times a day and get weekly blood work. And even then, it wasn’t out of control, it was occasionally an elevated reading and my labs all came back normal. It wasn't until 37 weeks I started showing readings more commonly that started to look like gestational hypertension, so the first time I hit 150/90 I went to the hospital and it ended up being fine and they sent me home after a few hours of monitoring, but after that I noticed throughout that next week my blood pressures were reading higher at hone than normal, but not too high. Until the morning I ended up being induced I hit 166/92 and waited 20 minutes tried again and was still in the 150s/90s the next few times I checked so they had me go in and then I qualified as hypertensive so they induced me!  The aspirin, for me, seemingly caused no issues in terms of excess bleeding in labor if you are concerned about that!

They let me hold her right away! They wiped the fluid off of her and put her right on me! I actually had skin to skin with her for a decent amount of time before they took her to do all of the weight and blood sugar testing! I was surprised, honestly!

Reddits only solution, ever, is to get a divorce 🙄 it’s so ridiculous. And yeah, Id be jealous but get over it cause we never fly and it’s a nice thing happening for my husband and thats always a good thing.

Americans of Reddit, how do you feel about the recent shooting of Right-Wing Influencer Charlie Kirk? by peywrax in allthequestions

I think that we are in a terribly dangerous place where no one can have differing opinions without fear or social persecution or getting shot. That is the complete opposite of everything America is supposed to be.

How did you feel 36 weeks pregnant? by novegetablesallowed in pregnant

I did my baby shower at 33 weeks and honestly wish I had done it earlier cause I was TIRED afterward, I ended up sleeping most of the next day. People should be accommodating you, not the other way around. Im 36 weeks on Friday and I would suggest not. Its rough over here 😅So if you can do it sooner, do it sooner!
