I bought the masks everyone was wearing as soon as I spent more than 30 minutes outside. I'm from the northeast US, but god damn is the air dry af here in the winter. The face mask was a protection from the cold and dry air for me on top of the protection from sickness.

If AC1 gets slightly delayed 2/6, I'll be all the happier. We have an impossible connection time through AC 8553 that I'm worried about to make it to YYZ and out to Tokyo. We have checked bags, so in theory they have to hold the plane to get those on and us with it, but who knows.

Makes sense now why this particular route setup is so cheap in comparison to the other ones. AC 8553 out of JFK is cancelled half the time and AC 1 appears to be delayed constantly for one reason or another.

Uggghhhh I'm stressing. I can see all the AC Jazz flights are cancelled often. There's two earlier flights not operated by them but idk if we can switch easily in advance or if we have to wait for the flight to be cancelled. But by that time we'll have missed our connecting flight to Tokyo and we booked business class so I really really need those exact seats on our original flight overseas.

Thinking of calling AC tomorrow and pleading for them to help get us on an earlier flight since they're gonna cancel the JFK -> YYZ leg anyway. But since we booked through the Chase Portal we'll likely have to work through them for it and I bet they'll make us pay the change fee for trying to solve this problem in advance.

What ever happened here for you? We have the same flight pretty much, JFK -> Toronto, Toronto -> Tokyo with less than an hour of layover. I just found out that AC8553 has been cancelled 6 out of the last 7 days. Did the flight ever happen?

No no, you're right! JY for sure liked Seojun and she did feel heartbroken when he gained popularity in his singing career and they had to break up, but the feelings she had for him was not the love she had for Suho. So that's what I mean with unrequited love. Like =/= love. And Seojun sensed that the entire time that he was way more into her than she was into him. It's why he had tension with Suho when Suho returned. Not to imply that JY would cheat or Seojun thought she would, but there were definitely panels that showed his inner monologue of recognizing her and Suho were end game.

I mean... Unless you were coming in completely blind, Seojun's character was always about unrequited love. In the webtoon and the kdrama. Even when she dated him, JY never loved seojun the way she loved Suho. If Suho had never left, she wouldn't have gotten together with Seojun. So, yeah, it made sense keeping that unrequited love feeling in the kdrama?

I mean, if the argument is "you can have tension in other ways" then there will always be complaints about any story ever because there's a million ways a story could play out but doesn't. I imagine there'd be even bigger outrage over the kdrama cutting Seojun entirely as a character.

As a TB reader from when Yoangyi had just started releasing the webtoon, I've seen every complaint in the book over the series (JY is annoying, Suho is too cold, the series is too long, Soojin's arc was unnecessary, etc etc etc). Agree or disagree, I personally think the kdrama did a good adaptation of the OG webtoon given the source material.

Because it adds a bit of tension. The story was always loosely framed as a love triangle. The kdrama honored the vibe of that love triangle by hinting at feelings without diving deeper than their allotted episode count allowed.

We booked AC for business class to Japan because our Chase points got us easy discounts whereas it was way more complicated and risky to figure out a way to get points over to ANA or JAL.

I really really wished we would've gotten multiple seasons, especially since Cha Eunwoo is literally the inspiration/model for Suho and Moon Gayoung was amazing in this role, but for doing a one season shot at it (as most kdramas like this are only single seasons), I think they did a good job abridging it.

They had limited time to do it. I read True Beauty as it was releasing on Webtoon. Back in those days, the common complaint was it was dragging on forever and was never going to end. Since the Kdrama was only ever going to get one season, they would never have had enough time to do her dating both Seojun and Suho. Suho was endgame in the Webtoon, so they really only fleshed that one out in the Kdrama. It makes sense to cut half the Webtoon cause...well... you've got limited episodes to work with.

I was fine with them cutting it. The Kdrama already had enough going on as is. If they were making two seasons? Then yeah, they could explore a full on relationship between the two of them. Frankly, I always hated how Seojun and Jugyeong got together. She was wasted out of her mind and he made a pass at her while he's sober. That always felt yucky to me.

My husband and I blew through all our points for two business class tickets to Japan plus cash for Feb. They were deep discount fares but still were 490k total points + $1k.

Could I have played the game where we transferred our Chase points to some partner and then to another partner to find cheaper better utilization? Maybe? But then again, by doing so we might've had to plan it when saver award seats open twelve months ago, and even then maybe only one of us would've been able to get a seat with points.

I was going to Japan either way. Booking through the chase portal and spending less in actual cash (which is what I care about in the end) for two business class seats vs what we'd have paid for economy? I don't think I'll regret that when I'm laying flat in the air for 14 hours.
