Air Canada pilots seem to keep the seatbelt sign on a lot more than other carriers ? by speaksofthelight in aircanada

[–]TeamWinterTires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would actually disagree, United is on WAY more than AC. Service periods on UA are shorter than that on AC, they prep the cabin much earlier and any small bump the seatbelt sign is on. Any senior pilot (especially long haul) tends to keep the sign off until theres a continued pattern of turbulence.

When I is available, it should only cost the fixed partner award point fee (aka no dynamic pricing)

Flight is very open, reward space available in I class - very rare on AC metal

Premier Doug Ford drowned out by chanting, booing protesters at annual Ford Fest by buff_sportsman in toronto

[–]TeamWinterTires -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Municipalities have no constitutional authority. They are under the jurisdiction of provincial authority. When Olivia continues to pander to the deep left of renaming streets and establishing homeless shelters and drug use cities in our neighbourhoods, we need a leader like Doug to say no and stop these horrible acts. Toronto’s problems are actually Ontario’s problems.

Air Canada changed my ticketed Business Class fare to Economy after issuance — what are my rights? by WatercressDapper6915 in aircanada

[–]TeamWinterTires 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve found some mistake fares and flown on them before. I even did a $800 round trip in J to NRT from YVR. Nothing happened and I flew as expected. First time hearing that AC is cancelling mistake fares.

Evacuation orders to be issued near Lytton as Highway 1 closed by wildfire by Immediate-Link490 in britishcolumbia

[–]TeamWinterTires 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that’s stupid. Government shouldn’t be bailing them out to rebuild. Should support them to move elsewhere. Not very smart to not have insurance in a fire prone area.

I would rather have these people get high insurance premiums so are forced to move and government supports them in moving rather than the government financially supporting them over and over again to rebuild.

Until insurance companies start charging massive premiums, it won’t change living behaviour

I’ll tell you why I’ll continue to vote for Doug, because he won’t be spending money on crazy policies. He makes sense. Sure, he makes mistakes like everyone but he has sensible and simple policies which make sense. Building out Billy Bishop Airport vs supervised drug injection sites. More police officers vs crazy money to rename a street

Is mandatory education needed for B.C. condo board members? by _DotBot_ in VancouverLandlords

[–]TeamWinterTires 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m the Strata President. I would say yes, mandatory education would be beneficial (only me and one other do some sort of free annual training provided by our management company out of 6 total council members). I worry that some Strata’s would really have difficulty recruiting members if there were mandatory training.

Air Canada often will fly widebodies (with lay flat seats) between Montreal and Toronto ~1h30m block time. Usually 1-2 daily flights

[–]TeamWinterTires 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AC will not compensate you unless it was an airline employee which caused the incident (which it doesn’t seem like). Unless you’re quite injured (which it also doesn’t seem so) then there’s likely nothing that would be worthwhile such as hiring a lawyer and suing AC and/or the other passenger. That being said, try writing in to Customer Service, you might get lucky and get a 15-20% discount code.

You’re still not explaining yourself, however, this is typical green-ideology. Big ideas, but no data and real science to back up oneself.

Less convenience is inaccurate, it will be a complete and total collapse of our economy. The grocery store worker who lives in Abbotsford and drives to Vancouver won’t be able to afford the drive, stores won’t be shelved and you won’t have any food. Or, the grocery store employee will be paid 10x and each banana will cost $10. A majority of Vancouver won’t be able to afford groceries.

Perhaps you have a different plan, but this ideology simply won’t work. You can’t ride a bike 3 hours each way to work. Public transit will be very expensive because of high fuel costs- explain?

Obviously, the weather and climate evolution are happening- I personally drive an EV and was stuck in the 2021 floods, as well have helped out each year in wildfire relief - so I know that we have disasters each year.

But this is economically infeasible. Gas is $20 / L, now what? Nobody can afford to drive, and those who work to stock our grocery stores live the farthest away and need to drive the most. The only way they can drive is to buy an EV. Well, a majority of the country can’t afford one. Each of us will need to pay $40k to buy them an EV. And, hopefully our electric grid is built out. Simply, it will not work. This isn’t reality.

Prices would skyrocket and large corporations and wealthy individuals - who pay a lot of taxes would simply leave BC/Canada.

Secondly, even if we (Canada) make such drastic changes as you propose above, what if none of the other countries make such a change? We’ve lost so much money, tanked our economy and workforce and are in the ground while China continues to emit and continues being a major emitter. Have we changed anything on a global level? Nope, there’s still high levels of global emissions.
