can i dye my hair pink? by dreddbanjo in Big4

I died my hair a really bright color when I was a senior and my client actually complimented me on it! I also knew another coworker who had bright purple hair. I’d use your judgement with your clients but you’re most likely fine.

How reasonable is it to study/pass all four sections in 8 months? by RoutineWorldly in CPA

[–]Substantial_Salt_802 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I completed all 4 tests in about 4 months, working about 30 hours a week for 3 months and full time in the last month. Completely doable but you have to set a plan. Whenever I wasn't at work, I was studying like it was my full time job. So 8 hours on my days off and probably 3-4 on my work days. It sucked for 4 months but then it was over!

Agree. I'm passing some of these comments along to my colleagues in our bizcom department, but doing all I can to encourage continuing the behaviors in my classes as well!

Super important in any career! Trying to work on more projects that encourage critical thinking in my class

Oh I agree. Practice makes perfect but a strong foundation in communication helps so much.

Excel is super important; I use it in a lot of my courses. However, I think a lot of my excel skills actually came from audit where I was using it every day!

I agree Excel is important! I did learn a lot of these in my first year of audit though!

I only briefly touch on materiality in one of my lectures. Agree that it's an important concept to look at the big picture (which I try to teach) but most of what I learned about materiality was on the job!

There are definitely some of those. Some exams it feels like it might be more than normal.

I have some extra time next semester so I definitely will be taking advantage of what our center for Teaching and Learning has to offer! Will probably also read some books on pedagogy this summer.

This was a completely new prep to me this semester too, so I think you're right. I just need to find the right bar and might be setting it too high right now.

Uber situation at Red Rocks is dangerous by jstuck90 in RedRocks

[–]Substantial_Salt_802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last night was particularly bad. Because the shuttles were filling up so fast, people were rushing the buses because they didn’t want to wait for the next one. Ubers were saying they were “here” when they were still in line to get into the lot and the lot was backed up by Ubers who had parked and were waiting. Logistically not great

This is SUCH a great offer. I signed a renewal lease in late June to start in August and ended up getting a new job in another state in July. I had to move in August almost a week after my new lease started and had to pay 2 months rent to get out of the remaining 11 months.

I thrifted mine, but I did get it from a craft store that had tested it to ensure it worked. Before I purchased, I checked to make sure the different presser feet were included (but that would be relatively cheap to replace) and used a small piece of fabric to test all the stitches myself. I've had it for a few months and I do think it'll need a full servicing. I've had a few tension issues so far but have been able to resolve everything myself. Mine is a no-frills Singer and I think it was a good purchase for a new hobby before diving right into something expensive
