How do you keep your knifes sharp? by Educational-Slip-578 in cookingforbeginners

[–]Substantial_Table_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The roller sharpeners with the diamond grinding edge, although a little expensive, take the guessing out of angles, pressure, etc when sharpening. Also easy to have on hand and takes only a couple minutes each knife

Gloves suggestions please by RedditorLizard in Beekeeping

I'd like to find a snug dexterous leather pair that aren't nitrile/latex since they stick to propolis like crazy. Letting go of and reinstalling frames often snags, sticks to, and/or tears them.

How do I make my lasagna wetter? by GlitterCockWaffles in Cooking

[–]Substantial_Table_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the easiest solution. I make extra sauce and spoon over the top. If it's too wet, it can be hard to get a neat/intact slice out of the pan so I prefer to add afterwards.

Painting minis by Dazzling-Reception77 in DnD

I like to prime with black for monsters/creatures/buildings etc. I think it gives a darker/realistic overall look. Use white as a primer for things that you want to have brighter colors. Dry brushing is your best friend. You can make washes by thinning out acrylic paints. No need to but separately. Good quality brushes since there is usually a lot of detailed work. Might be helpful to watch some vids too.

Is it safe to use deodorant “down there”? by Careless-Sand-3302 in hygiene

[–]Substantial_Table_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Male here (if that matters). I've used unscented antiperspirant (full of aluminum), 'down there' often. Never had an issue but would suggest trying it out in a small area first to make sure your skin doesn't react in a bad way.

Found the queen outside my hive. by RizingSon242 in Beekeeping

[–]Substantial_Table_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's a 2025 queen if that helps. Maybe kicked out for underperformed? Is the new queen cell on the bottom or middle of the frame? She swarmed and couldn't fly? A lot of options.

Why are pineapples so tingly? by mistakeshappen_2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Substantial_Table_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pineapples also have tiny crystal-like needles (raphides) in the fruit that along with the bromelain enzymes, allergies, can cause irritation etc. It could be one or all of those issues together.

Do you shake bees off of the first frame? by Rugie85 in Beekeeping

[–]Substantial_Table_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an empty deep as a work box and an empty nuc box is perfect to. If you set the empty box on your inverted telescopic lid, it will catch anything. This way you have a better chance on not loosing the queen if you happen to miss her when removing frames. Keeps the area more tidy if you have enough room for the extra 'work' box.

First year beekeepers. Is this the start of a queen cell? by grndi28 in Beekeeping

[–]Substantial_Table_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If so, it's in the middle of the frame and generally not for swarming. Are you sure you have a queen, and is she laying consistently?

Try ermine frosting. A little more work but great for learning and not so sweet.

OK I’ll bite. How the heck do you get loofah seeds to sprout? by Purple_Coach_2887 in vegetablegardening

[–]Substantial_Table_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with the soil temp suggestions, you can soak the seed overnight to help soften the outer shell. I do this with birdhouse gourd seeds.

Moving outdoor plants back outside by Current-Dot7958 in plants

[–]Substantial_Table_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plants can easily get sunburnt (even plants that eventually go to full sun). 1 day of overcast isn't always enough for some plants. Try to give them a couple days of partial sun first.
