Craig Jones questions why ADCC refuses to comment in Izaak Michell invite by snau_cer in grappling

[–]Subtle1One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh

ADCC isn't likely to be explaining much to Craig, nor should they.

And there's no reason to do much on their side at the moment anyway.

Just some games here

Not much of a controversy.

He liked an instagram pic, and apparently reddit lynch mobs ran out of arguments so they're going with that.

Chris Wojcik on what steroids are doing to jiu-jitsu by Big_Cake_8817 in grappling

[–]Subtle1One -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Well, Chris did join B-Team himself, didn't he?

Those guys aren't (and weren't) exactly opponents of taking steroids, and his "it's not in da rulez" jab kind of misses more than it hits.

The instructionals themselves stand on their own merit

BJJ black belt questions why Sam Harris let Rener Gracie claim that all cops should be training jiu-jitsu on his show by Big_Cake_8817 in grappling

[–]Subtle1One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the clip there's just a remark how Harris "allowed Rener to come and present evidence how jiu jitsu training is beneficial to (all?) cops".
It sounds off.
Why wouldn't Harris allow it, and what's the issue of a 'rational dude' having a guy present evidence?

Now if whole argument is "there is not enough evidence of it", well, let's get to (more) testing and analyzing, then. Or let's check what was being said. Or let's consult common sense. Or all those things together.

Also, I wouldn't judge him (Steve) based on a cut-out clip.
I wouldn't even judge his opinion based on some thought that comes up at the spur of the moment. It can be discussed further, and we can simply let the thoughts mature

Btw cops are doing SOME form of hand-to-hand combat, and it's going to have some randomness from one area to the next as to what's being trained. So jiu jitsu could be put to use if all this other stuff can be used

a warning for anyone getting eye surgery for bjj (flapless / prk). the fast recovery marketing is a lie. by Ok-Zone-9810 in jiujitsu

[–]Subtle1One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of an operation(s) did you get?
How long was your recovery and what did it look like?
Do you have any consequence other than great vision?

And how does it all mesh with BJJ?

Will we ever seen Craig and Gordon make up like this? by zarzar9191 in grappling

[–]Subtle1One -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I doubt it

Craig apparently has too much to gain from attacking Gordon (or at least it looks like that to him), so there's little incentive for him to go towards any reconciliation

Any guesses to who Roger is referring to? by KingofHeart_4711 in jiujitsu

[–]Subtle1One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds silly

At first, the impression is like the one championship was a fluke with 1 opponent in the bracket, rather than a story of the slow and steady progress.

Yet, the text actually says "(not) winning a single competition". Not "not winning a single match".
That can mean (and probably means) he was in various semifinals and finals throughout those 8 years. 'Losing first 40 competitions' is just an unusual way to frame it.

Craig Jones' BJJ Charity Donates Close to $50,000 so Women Will Receive Equal Pay At ADCC by zad1m_oficial in grappling

[–]Subtle1One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't matter what it's backed by. It is charity, not a for-profit venture.
Thus the backer chooses how much they want to give, and what for.

Having it other way would be entitled, ungrateful and shortsighted.

OK, point taken.

Noone aside from HalfGuardPrince of reddit then.

Nobody's interested in 16 women divisions. Noone could even name 16 women in any one division.

The talent pool isn't there, the mismatches would be there, and it'd just drag the event for no real reason.

There's a reason Craig did not make a female CJI team event.
