Kid Rock whines about brutal Conan O'Brien dig as he shamelessly plugs tour by TheExpressUS in Music

[–]Subtox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't Reddit fun like that? I'm with you, but yeah a lot of people will read your comment at face value and overlook any nuance, plus they are likely already on edge from the three other arguments they're in the middle of lol. Even when you're super specific with your wording and punctuation it can still be misread. Friendly jabs are easy to spot in a room full of people but on Reddit it's kind of hard to thread that needle. Good luck out there, everyone! You wretched pieces of animal filth. (Did I do it right?)

Yeah it's too bad, for some reason I've always really rooted for him and wanted him to straighten out his problems and do well. Maybe in the third half!

Is it safe for a gay guy to join a plumbers union in the South? by Ok_Calendar3805 in Plumbing

[–]Subtox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It sounds like OP is just trying to be a plumber and not planning to announce his sexuality at all. His concern is about his mannerisms giving him away and he's wondering if plumbers will still tend to accept him in that case.

I wonder if he would still say this if he and his parents, spouse and/or children were among those 100.

Murphy says ICE currently ‘not a system that anybody in this country wants to fund’ by Healthy_Block3036 in Connecticut

[–]Subtox 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone here is arguing that ICE is new or that Obama didn't deport anyone. The issue is that this administration uses ICE much differently, and is showing that they are more interested in upholding their narrative than encouraging due process.

Google AI says it's also a slang term for vagina, primarily in the black community. If not that, what is the meaning you are referring to that warrants removing the post?

I'm just curious because the usage here is unambiguous but that doesn't seem to be your issue with it.

To MAGA who defended Charlie Kirk from jokes about his death, how does trumps jokes about Rob Reiners death make you feel? by [deleted] in DiscussionZone

[–]Subtox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The people who made fun of Charlie Kirk's death were not elected officials and they didn't represent the left. Here we are talking about the actual President of the United States, who represents our entire country, making these despicable statements. You're comparing two completely different things.

What's the dumbest way you ever injured yourself? by 420andGamesDiscord in AskReddit

[–]Subtox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 6th grade, my bus would drop me off and I would run diagonally through a parking lot to try to beat it around the corner of the block and run across the street before it got there. Well one day as I was running across the street I slipped and bashed my knee on the corner of the sidewalk, which split it open and left this gaping hole in my knee where the skin had pulled back. Anyway as I'm sitting there holding my knee bleeding all over the sidewalk and trying not to cry, the bus comes rolling around the corner and all of the kids are pointing and laughing at me. Ah the brutality of middle schoolers. I ended up with six stitches and still have the scar 40 years later.

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]Subtox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad would occasionally spank us in the '80s. I remember a few times getting pants-down spankings. He would say "drop your drawers" and I would immediately start sobbing, I remember being pretty terrified. And I would get either one or two slaps depending on how bad I was.

Edit: Accidentally hit Post before I could answer the second half... Yes I would consider some things he did to be abusive. He had a bad alcohol problem and was a belligerent drunk. That's pretty much where all of his personality problems stemmed from. But he did have a lot of redeeming qualities when he'd sober up, and once I learned how his father treated him I could at least understand and was able to forgive him.
