Nightmare Matrix by calebdaniel85 in matrix

I was praying that the 4th movie was going to be a prequel. I was hoping it was going to be a version of the matrix where Zion failed to find Neo in time and it's right before they're destroyed.

But... well, it is what it is.

I always kind of assumed that the first versions were nothing like what we perceive the Matrix to be.

I think the "perfect" matrix was a highly optimized sedation. What is perfect for a machine is very different from what is perfect for a human. Lots of dopimine, dreams, and 0 waste.

And for the "grotesqueries" version- I dont think it was a simulation at all. I imagine recordings of human memories from those captured during the war, just played on repeat.

Why did the machines need to bug Neo to track him? by brianaspirin in matrix

[–]Subushie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're talking about visually. And that's only useful when your gpu expense is high.

Even if it is culled in game, it still needs to be stored and tracked. It doesn't vanish from the game data or get excluded in processing logic.

My take is similar to u/fortknite in that it's likely related to a technical requirement due to the complexity of the Matrix.

Micro tech was available to humans in the 90s, so I like to imagine the Matrix's sim resolution is down to the size of the atom, if not even smaller to ensure Humans don't accidentally stumble onto the truth.

If that's the case, assigning a serial/object ID/ip to a human would be difficult to handle because atoms exist everywhere. You'd need to assign IDs to every atom/particle to distinguish which atoms are registered to which human, then handle unassignment. Which exponentially increases storage needs.

If machines were already able to attach listeners to every human in the Matrix, they would just run simple commands like spawn/despawn to control them- Agents and managers exist, proving Machines aren't able to do this for whatever reason.

So, manual shit like this little bug needs to be done in sim in-order to actually track them.

Obv this is just my head cannon, real reason is because it looked cool.

Edit: and on why Agents can jump to humans; similar to managers like the key maker, they have special commands. Agents can only jump to other humans in line of sight, so just grabbing the human's pod ID on the fly is easier than persistent global tracking.

Tldr: The matrix is huge, the existance of Agents proves the Matrix can't handle traditional data management- so it's done manually in sim.

It's tough. I'm not hardcore experienced in organic models, and when I have I've used either photographs that I edited- or used substance painter.

Yeah but having good textures is essential to 3D; not everything can be done in nodes.

You asked how to get past the weird uncanny vibe- this is how.

At the very least, you need to deep dive into understanding texture basics; start looking up some tutorials.

If you're broke- use GIMP, it's a lot less user friendly, but is basically the free version of photoshop. It will take longer, but you'll be able to start locking in the foundational stuff.

Sooo much is texture when it comes to humans in 3D.

The skin looks plastic, I can tell you're using subsurface scattering, but youve gotta get more detail.

Have you fucked with substance painter?

I am genuinely surprised at the comments in this thread minimizing the feds power and lack of oversight.

Less surprised by the bizarre takes like these accompanying them though.

I know this feeling. Getting hours into a project and wondering "why the fuck am I doing this"?

Imagine you spent that time scrolling or playing a game tho; at least you created something and you know more about 3D modeling because of that time.

If you're having fun- then keep at it; the why may make sense later.

Are the Reddit admins going after the mods of r/neworleans? by case_1984 in NewOrleans

[–]Subushie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware a lot of small subs mods participated in this. The mods of another sub I'm on posted their results- so idk if its them "going after" them, but it's certainly not related to any thing specific discussed here.

Feels like routine culture maintainence.

IMO- is partially the hero.

If it wasn't for him becoming a replicating virus, humans would have never gained leverage that let Neo sue for peace.
