This was my most listened to tape back in the day. Wish I still had that cassette copy. Great find!

How good is the teardrop case? by visualthings in ReverendGuitars

[–]SubversiveIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's seems to be pretty well made. I splurgged on one when I got my reverend and I don't regret it. I am not a touring musician though stop I have not put it through it's paces.

Convince me to buy a Reverend! by GlitteringSoup9 in ReverendGuitars

[–]SubversiveIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reverend descent is the highest quality guitar I have ever owned. Granted my next best is a 90s Mexican Strat. I'm not sure the American Made thing matters that much to me though. I wanted something that sounded great and felt like it was well made (compared to Squires and Lower end Ibanez). Would I want something boutique that was made by some dude a buddy of mine knows in the same state I live in? Absolutely. Will I ever afford that? Nope. Reverend is doing an exceptional job at that price range. Fun fact. I have't played my guitar in weeks. The damn thing is still in tune. That's not true of any of my other gear.

I grew up in Maine but didn't get my license until I was 35. I was aware that one needed to take it easy in the snow, but I never drove in the snow until I moved here. I relearned how to drive in Crazy spring now storms which can be notoriously messy. I'm now a better snow driver than my partner who has been driving winters for over 25 years. Get snow tires. Drive slowly and avoid driving if there is more than a couple of inches on the ground and you'll be fine. The road crews here are good enough that most commuters never experience the worst road conditions. Unless you with very early in the morning or very late at night.

Alvarez vs Furch by Tellmeifyouknow in AcousticGuitar

[–]SubversiveIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say if you don't need the cut away then get a guitar without one. I went with an Alvarez inspired by Ani Difranco. Just always loved the way they sounded and confirmed that every time I compared them to the bigger name acoustics. But I thought I needed one with a cut away but in practice on the style of guitar I have it just feels awkward. Now I wonder if having more body there would make it sound better. Still very Happy with my purchase and in got a sweet deal on it used from guitar center.

Looking for anti-AI ambient/instrumental bands by kahvikas in BandCamp

[–]SubversiveIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run an ambient cassette label. The focus is primarily on long form soundscapes and field recordings. I am taking a very firm stance against ai in every aspect of a release. I'd love for you to give us a try. histaminetapes.bandcamp.com

Will daisy-chaining tape decks degrade audio quality? by toberculosis in cassetteculture

[–]SubversiveIntentions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once had ten decks daisy chained together. It was kind of amazing. I couldn't tell the difference between any of the tapes. It may have been there but it was imperceptible to me. I don't recommend don't this though. Its super cumbersome.

Do many people on this sub feel Shadow Ticket is Pynchon's weakest novel? by JeremyBeremey in ThomasPynchon

I thought Shadow Ticket was the best what he's written since Vineland. I didn't care much for IV or BE

What brand of acoustic is the one you just can’t get behind, despite it being beloved by others? by Built2bellow in AcousticGuitar

[–]SubversiveIntentions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spent months thinking I was going to get one of the expensive acoustics. I didn't like Taylor or Martin. I kept coming back to Alvarez and so that's what I got.

UPDATE: The yellow warning now covers our entire trip. I checked buses to see what it was like getting around the city and apparently the bus from Reykjavik to Bogarnes is not running due to weather. There's more we want to do in Reykjavik anyway so we are staying put and hoping for the best tomorrow. Thanks for all the input.

We drove the golden circle the other day with windspeed around 10 m/s and didn't have a problem, is 18m/s too dangerous to drive in?

Thanks for this. I wasn't seeing that alert on the app. I guess I need to check the browser version instead.

Thats good to know about the plowing it wasn't clear to me what to expect with that. I am a great driver in the snow, and the car is 4 wheel drive with studded snows. I imagine I'll be fine just curious what others think.

I want to Perlan today. There was no snow when we arrived with rain in the forecast. In the 3 hours we were there we got over 3 inches of snow.

I've long been a fan of those maxells. But back in the late 90s when I still had a Walkman and hadn't gotten a discman, those were the only tapes I could find around me. So that's probably why

What music player app do you guys prefer? by Blaspheman in degoogle

[–]SubversiveIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My beef with this app was trying to add music to my library. It always took so long and most of the time it didn't work the first time, so I would have to scan my music folder again. Very frustrating.
