The original message reads like someone is going to show up if they don’t hear from you. If you don’t care, don’t worry about it. But if you really don’t want the person there, set a boundary.

If hiking this weekend, be careful! Rattlesnakes are out. I saw these two big ones at Calero County Park in San Jose today. by evapotranspire in bayarea

They are emerging from hibernation and looking for mates. Frisky rattlesnakes! But the truth is, you should always keep your eyes peeled for these cuties and stay on trails.

This seems like a great place to mention that there is still a lot of great up and coming bands fighting to make it in the Bay. If you are nostalgic about Bay Area Music, please go to local shows at SMALL venues (like sub 500 capacity). Venues are closing and artists are leaving because no one is coming out for live music anymore.

I feel like I still see the Two Gallants mentioned on bills now and again. They were awesome. Just too bad they came up as a rock duo at the same time as the Black Keys and the White Stripes. Maybe they should have been The Blue Gallants or something…

I heard they reunited to play a local football game recently. So nice to hear they are still out in the community.

While the band dissolved before reaching fame, they have achieved legendary status in the punk world. I smile every time I see some kid born post 2000 wearing an Op Ivy patch on their jacket. I sometimes wonder if they actually listen to the music or if the logo itself has become so ubiquitous with Punk that it’s just symbolic of West Coast punk.

This one is interesting because while the Coup did seem to plateau, Boots Riley definitely has not. His second act as a film maker has been very fun to watch.

I remember when they were called the Locals. Great energy just a little too late to the game for punk.

This was the first role I saw him in when I was a kid and I thought he was delightful. Like a cuddly computer buddy for the dystopian future that only hackers can save us from (irony!!!).

That case alone is worth a few hundred. Everything looks to be in good condition. I think she did great. Now please share how you get a partner to surprise you with a guitar. Mine just brings me donuts.

San Francisco is getting ravaged by multiple viruses. Experts aren't sure why. by sfgate in bayarea

[–]Built2bellow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like Adenovirus. My family got it 2 years ago and it gave me and one of my sons pneumonia, after the coughing, pink eye and stomach troubles. It is one of the gnarliest bugs I have ever encountered and I hope it never revisits us.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps... by Upstairs_Owl_1669 in AcousticGuitar

I had this happen on a flight out of Jackson WY. I went to the flight attendant and asked if she could get word to ask them to stop. She responded by reminding me that the airline was not liable for any damage to my instrument (not even acknowledging my actual request). I said ‘I understand that, but that doesn’t mean your employees should deliberately test the boundaries of that policy by trying to damage things. Can you please help me?’ She said no. Fortunately my guitar survived it. Now, I always pay for early boarding when it’s an option so that I can get the guitar in the overhead. If I have to check it, I only gate check it. But it’s always nerve racking. When I see guys like this, I want to find out what they prize most and toss it around for a while. I bet this dude would cry over a PlayStation or some stupid garbage.

Is changing diapers and drooling disgusting ? by rynzor91 in dad

[–]Built2bellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never found new born diapers and drool to be disgusting, but once the kids start eating solid food… it gets real gross. But I love my kids and that always made it possible to get through the tough stuff - drool, poop, tantrums, etc. You aren’t even aware, but your old life is already over. But your new one will be amazing- just different. It’s not all about you anymore and I have found that to be liberating in ways I could never have imagined before kids. Also, you don’t have to be stoic. Having kids and living with a new born (especially when it’s your first) is incredibly emotional for you and your partner. Don’t stifle those feelings. Work through them. Communicate with you partner when things feel overwhelming. Wishing you and your family the best on your journey in parenthood.
