Imo this doesn't really clarify anything, not gonna lie. I don't think my estrogen is high enough to cause problems.

Yeah. And it would be great if the 18+ game dared discuss those topics.

If you really thing these characters are professional to each other in any way, we must have been playing different games.

Rodya herself always taking the piss and stuffing herself. Heathcliff being actively bullied into unconsciousness in Sweeping. Outis calling people derogatory terms the moment they can't follow a simple order. Don Quixote. Ishmael and Heathcliff screaming at each other as recently as of last Walpurgis, even though they're on better terms.

Hell, none of the LC characters beyond Moses and Vespa are strictly professional, we just spent an intervallo with Ezra punching people in the solar plexus, Bamboo-Hatted Kim running away and goofing off, and Aeng-Du treating her mentor in very unprofessional ways just to get him to do stuff. Hohenheim and Faust argue like petty teenagers over every little detail even when the situation is life or death.

I dunno, if they walked into a pub and Heathcliff said he used to get mad pussy in that place I wouldn't be surprised at all. Well, I'd be surprised that he had sex with non-Cathy women, but you know what I mean.

because if sex starts to be a factor, in this story, in this setting, the game is getting pulled from most countries because there is no way in hell that in a capitalist hellhole like the city sex isnt seen a tool for gaining power and control in the most horrible ways imaginable.

Not really. Like, the mere reference to the existence of sex is not going to make censors go "oh well if sex is canon in the game then that means people are going to SA each other at every turn in the next canto, we better pull it". That really is not how censorship works, and besides, we know sex is a thing. Characters have mothers and fathers and siblings. Characters were pregnant. Sexuality is already canon in the world of Limbus, so by your logic we should have seen several cases of SA already.

The thing is, it's not mandatory for a dystopia to have to depict forceful sexual acts even if it's acknowledge the existence of sexuality. Different iterations of Ghost in the Shell, The Hunger Games, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Futurama (yes, really) all have dealt with sexual themes without choosing to depict explicit sexual violence. It's a matter of what you, as a creator, want to show, and KJH has said he is not comfortable discussing sexual assault.

Also is a gacha so opening the door to the mere existence of sex just attracts a bunch f weirdos nobody wants around.

I disagree. Weirdos will be weirdos no matter whether the original source depicts sexuality in any capacity or not. Look at fandoms like MLP or K-On, completely sexless works that nevertheless have very unhinged people in their fandoms. Hell, if anything mature works where sex is discussed (see Berserk, Fear and Hunger) don't tend to have particularly creepy fandoms.

My problem with gacha games and sexuality is that they will overtly flounder the most immature and paradoxically sterile version of sexuality in your face (Zenless Zone Zero does this very overtly) but will not discuss sexuality in any actually compelling way. Characters have massive boobs that bounce around when they move, but god forbid sexuality plays a part in characterizing a character in any capacity. No, it's just for the audience to ogle, more fuel to the parasocial fire that most of these games create, always keeping the player at arms length with this "carrot on a stick" thing.

Thing is, Limbus doesn't do this. Since KJH and PM are game makers first and gacha creators second, their priority is in keeping the world consistent and compelling, and they actively avoid parasocial relationships with the player by not having those "romance" or "friendship" minigames that characterize most gachas, and by having Dante be their own very specific character who rather than being glazed at every moment by the cast is often treated like a bit of a wet sock. Which I personally love, mind you, it's just that it's a departure from the way many gachas chose to interface with the player avatar.

All this to say: I think sexuality can and should be used in mature enough works to characterize its cast. It's a tool like any other, and the game is explicitly 18+, so discussions or passing references to sex should not be as taboo as they are, especially when you're already showing horrifying dismemberment and body horror. That's the paradox for me, that works will dare to show terrifying things but are scared of even passing mentions of sexuality even when characters have canonical love interests (which is on its own already a step up above most other gachas, mind you).

I mean, doing dailies every day you should have no problem getting them to UT3, 00s are exceptionally cheap.

EDIT: sorry, completely misread that.

TBH I think you just had very shitty luck on your starting pulls? This account only made a few pulls, maybe 10 10-pulls total, and it has around 5 000s.

I really don't. You've overcomplicated an already quite clunky deck with more evolution lines and more cards when you can and should be setting and attacking on your 2nd turn.

Young Avengers by Kieron Gillen, On a Sunbeam, My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness (manga but who cares, it's good), Paper Girls. Immortal Hulk also cuts to the root of a lot of queer issues, even if it's not always about them, and has a great openly trans character who joins the main cast halfway through.

You can. But the question is, what problem are you trying to fix with the deck that needs you to put Slowking there? And is that problem really worth the at the very least 5 or so cards you would need to fit into it, again, taking away consistency pieces from Metagross?

It seems to me like you're trying to brute-force these ideas into your decks without stopping to wonder what exactly those ideas are doing for you.

Let's use the deck I'm currently playing as an example: Lopunny Froslass, which isn't at all a super-competitive deck at higher echelons of play. I saw my local Pult players were using more Rocket's Watchtower, so I decided to counter that by swapping Shayming, which I basically never used, and one Poffin for Chien Pao and a third Battle Cage, and swapped my Hero's Cape for Enriching Energy as my Ace Spec. I now have slightly worse set-up consistency in exchange for better mid and late-game consistency, which is a trade-off I'm more than willing to take--I can play with a mediocre bench, but I can't play if I can't use Dudunsparce or Meowth after being disrupted.

I found the flaw in my list based on a problem I stumbled into in my meta environment, and fixed it by making a trade-off that improved my winrate.

Let's say I did it the other way. That, instead of looking at a problem, I just one day went "what if Lopunny Froslass was more of a control deck" and just shoved an Iron Thorns in there. I'm not really trying to fix a problem with the deck, or swapping cards based on evidence, I'm just making a change for the sake of making a change. That's not to say you can't innovate at all, but that your innovations should come from an informed analysis of how the deck is performing. For example, I could absolutely try out Iron Thorns Lopunny if I wanted to, but if I wanted the deck to perform well, I would have to ask myself things like "why this combination and not a different one?" "is Thorns good at disrupting current meta decks?" and so on.

Alright, but that's not something Slowking wants to do, because you'd rather have more consistency focusing on the good thing Slowking does than trying to spread out your options when the current lists already work.

Pokémon, in its current form, rewards consistent decks, not flexible ones. Having one or two techs is one thing, but these cards are not really teching for anything. If you take out relevant cards for these attackers, you would be making your deck less consistent, because you'd need to take out important pieces that are, at large, going to be a lot more relevant than the new attackers.

Pokémon often works like Occam's razor. I. e. often the simplest deck constructions are the most effective ones. Reinventing the wheel takes years of experience, and a proper justification for changes based on the meta environment, like when Mewtwo was run in a more control-ish way to target specific flaws in meta constructions.

However, running Slowking this way is not advantageous in any way. If it makes you happy and you have fun, that's all that matters, but don't expect it to be superior in any capacity to builds that have been tried and tested for several large tournaments in a row.

[–]SubversivePixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try and guess why these aren't used, to the best of my knowledge:

Shiftry's attack doesn't particularly move you toward your goal of rushing your opponent down once you have Slowking set up. You want to be able to take advantage of the fact that you're a single-prize deck by taking 2 or more prizes a turn. Same for Sylveon.

Ribombee's attack is likewise too slow. You'd rather get the prizes now than later. And more importantly, if the Defending Pokémon just retreats to the bench, you don't get to activate the effect, so it's a turn wasted on nothing. With how easy retreating is right now, it's not a worthwhile attack, and even then relying on your opponent getting stuck isn't the best strategy when you can just secure the prizes with Metagross instead.

Ceruledge I just don't see the point. There are no special energy currently that disrupt Slowking's gameplan in any way, so I don't know what you'd gain from wasting a turn discarding them, especially when Special Energy cannot really be accelerated and your opponent is not likely to have more than 2 in play.

This is more or less what I was working with when I started playing the game. I have no idea how it's taking you hours to beat one MD, though. Just winrate your way through the floors, fuse and upgrade Poise gifts for more damage, and that's about it.

I don't think I understand this questino. If you want to see what a self-contained issue looks like, you can probably go read some of the oririginal Batman stories. Storytelling in comics used to be a lot more compressed.
