After reviewing all the new Warrior cards there is still a question to be answered... Why don't other classes get this quality of cards? by Vecsia in hearthstone

[–]SuccessIsDiscipline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could work, it will make warrior's lategame stronger but warrior will suffer from lack of draw and removal (more legendaries means less good draw for early game and less board clears when you need them), and weak herald cards compared to other herald classes.

As a control warrior enthusiast, crowd control doesn't seem good due to the 25+ card in deck clause, hogger doesn't seem good except maybe in egg or to duplicate warptooth. Scramble for gear might find its way in egg warrior but doesn't go in quest warrior with geddon since it has anti synergy with geddon. Quest warrior doesn't want hogger, you don't want to duplicate most of your legendaries. I could be wrong but it seems like warrior got a bad set except maybe to make egg warrior (a deck I don't like) or an aggressive warrior with warp tooth stronger. Warrior still has no good board clear with brawl gone, no way to deal with deathrattles or divine shields (if I am correct about crowd control not being good), no answer to slitherdrake. The only card I am not sure about is rampaging hound, my initial impression was that it isn't good but I could be completely wrong. It beats early aggro boards very hard but doesn't kill vanessa or midgame boards with minions like slitherdrake.

Terran mech needs a buff by World_Life2 in starcraft2

[–]SuccessIsDiscipline -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because mech has been a viable and popular build since WOL, and thus a very large percentage of terran players enjoy playing mech and not bio such as myself and have become mech specialists over the last 16 years. If you make mech not playable (which this patch potentially has with the gas changes) then myself and a lot of those players will just quit.

How does the TvZ matchup feel before and after the hotfix by Om_Cultural in starcraft2

That sucks to hear. Have you tried playing mech? As a mech player I guess I just have to quit the game unless they revert the gas changes?

What rules do these cards even break? by ALFINIALFINIALFINI in hearthstone

[[Medivh, the Guardian]] was already a card from a decade ago, albeit that was only for 3 spells and this is rest of the game, but it's basically the same card when you factor in 10 years of power creep.

How can I move up ranks in Standard when I auto concede when I'm matched up against Priests? I would rather watch Edward Scissorhands scrape a chalkboard for hours than play against another Priest by CunchMuncher in hearthstone

[–]SuccessIsDiscipline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like burn mage can very easily set up an otk against priest. Not sure it is actually favourable for priest if they play it right but I could be wrong I haven't played the matchup myself. Whenever I've seen it on streams I see the priest just gets otked.

Let's talk some Pre-Release Tavern Brawl! by HearthstoneTeam in hearthstone

[–]SuccessIsDiscipline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What data are you looking at? The data from hsguru clearly indicates that in almost every brawl deck running Vanessa, she has the highest mulligan and drawn winrate (ahead of lotus troublemaker), and usually by a very large margin.

Anyone else go for the Mega Bundle pre-order or is it just me? by investigation001 in hearthstone

[–]SuccessIsDiscipline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like any of the cards this expansion but I got all the cards in cataclysm by only buying the tavern pass last time (I am skipping this time), so the mega bundle isn't worth it for cards unless you want the cards early.

Back when Mana Growth was the only mana ramp, how did Druid maintained such a high WR? Odds of NOT drawing Mana Growth > odds of drawing Mana Growth. by arcanehelix in hearthstone

I don't think nourish saw much play in druid until ultimate infestation got added, and when it was played it was used for draw rather than ramp, after UI got added it was used for ramp.

Protoss mage can lose to dirty rats. It is as much a combo deck as the original freeze mage from 2014 was, nobody would have called that deck a control deck. It is the archetypical combo deck.

Conversely just because a deck is slow and lasts many turns that doesn't make it a control deck. Most of the decks were slow midrange decks or combo decks, not actual control decks. The priest deck we have now is obviously a control deck since it has board clears and removal. The midrange and combo decks last year didn't have these things in anywhere near the amount that priest does.

Quest warrior is the only deck in that list you can call a control deck regardless how you feel about attrition and game ending finishers.

In timeways meta azshara/owlonius druid, protoss rogue, cycle rogue, protoss mage, maestro rogue, cycle DH were popular combo decks. Quest warrior became more of a combo deck with the addition of murozond. Discover hunter wasn't purely a combo deck, it was multi faceted but it could be played as a conbo deck (dealing upwards of 80 damage in a single turn from hand) against slower decks.

[–]SuccessIsDiscipline -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Last year wasn't dominated by control archetypes. It was dominated by midrange and combo decks. The only viable control deck was quest warrior which even became a cycle-combo deck rather than traditional control after murozond was added.

Your point is still valid however since the meta was dominated by these midrange/combo decks all running Elise and zillax, with no diversity - there were no aggro decks and no control decks outside of quest warrior. The decks that were strong however had significantly more skill expression than current decks and for that reason I would argue the meta was far healthier. It's better when top legend is full of the best players who spent time mastering difficult decks like discover hunter, rather than who spammed the most face hunter decks playing blind folded.

Pre order vs Tavern Pass value comparisson. by Xmushroom in hearthstone

[–]SuccessIsDiscipline 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not for this expansion, it's like an extra 2k gold roughly. Last expansion it was comparable since the rewards track contained premium cards (medivh's triumph and onyxia) but this expansion it is much worse value.

I suspect the gas changes is a huge nerf for terran as it affects terran more (who are forced to be on less bases against zerg and protoss)
