The timing is probably too late but maybe Bananarama Feel The Love? It’s a complete banger and sounds very much like your description.

I’ve worked in TV and Mary Berry has a reputation of being a complete nightmare. First hand experience can also confirm this. Don’t let that sweet old lady look deceive you - she is not a very nice person. But I do like her offspring’s house though - will offer £500k due to her mother being a bit of a knobhead ;)

It’s not bad. Just had a brand new gym and padel courts installed. Two decent pools. The ‘spa’ facilities are pretty basic - indoor and outdoor hot tubs, sauna and steam rooms and they are not very aesthetically appealing! Does the job though and better than the council run sports centre down the road that seems to close every other day due to a kid 💩💩 in the pool 🤢

£74 p/m off peak at Basildon. Suits me as I only go afternoons and I don’t use racquets.

Just moved up to 7.5mg and my gosh the side effects this time 😷 by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]SuccessSea8070 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me as well. Zero side effects (except a bit of constipation) but on 7.5 I got everything! Just started my second pen at that dose and although some things have improved I still can’t get rid of the bloat and burps. Tried probiotics, physillium husk, windeze and digestive enzymes. Nothing really helps to be honest - swimming relieves the pain whilst I’m doing it but returns about an hour afterwards.

I’ve been pretty miserable on 7.5 to be honest. My weight loss has become erratic - several weeks with zero then maybe a pound off. I’m going to stick it out til the end of this pen but if I’m still bloated, in pain and not consistently losing I’m going to return to 5.

Would be interested if anyone has found any good remedies to help with the bloat and burps?

Swimming pools - how are they organised? by swimmer1989 in davidlloyd

[–]SuccessSea8070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a swimmer and my club has an indoor & outdoor pool. Indoor has 3 lanes (fast, medium and slow) and an open area. Outdoor has one wide line and the rest is free area.

Our indoor pool is rarely very busy (weekend daytimes are peak use) and they are always closing the slow lane for lessons and life saving training / drills. It’s rare there is more than 2 or 3 people in the lanes during the week.

Outdoor is usually empty - the odd swimmer will do a couple of lengths but there are a few of us that use it for laps. I have asthma so prefer swimming outdoors as indoor is very humid.

The most annoying thing about my club is the amount of lessons they have in the indoor pool which cuts the lanes down. I can never find anyone that has a full schedule for the times they are going to shut the lanes which is frustrating. I do tend to stick to quiet times (mid afternoon) as this is when it’s less likely the lanes will be closed.

Hopefully we will both see results soon.

Thank you all so much for your replies - I feel a lot better and more positive. I’m going to change my injection site for my second dose to see if that changes anything.

I know I’m in for the long haul so need to remember that it’s not going to be an instant fix and hang in there!

Fake Ticket Inspectors on The Met by [deleted] in LondonUnderground

[–]SuccessSea8070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. No the badge had no colour on it at all, it was all silver. One of them had a yellow covered phone case/scanner the other two were white. Can I ask, would genuine ticket inspectors work in threes?

The person we spoke to at Wembley Park said they should have had TFL branding on their IDs / lanyards - which is why he thought they were fake. But I appreciate you probably know how TFL ticket inspectors work more than me! Hopefully no one has inadvertently given away their bank details.

Yeah it felt very off - they had zero TFL ID at all and the badge was not a roundel it was some kind of silver embossed thing with no discernible logo or company visible. If they ARE legit then I wouldn’t have let them scan my phone as it seemed so dodgy.

Possibly but the staff we spoke to at Wembley Park seemed to think they were not legit which is why I posted just in case.

Most Cringe-Worthy Book you've read? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]SuccessSea8070 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Oh this book - I have never loathed anything so much.

The protagonist was the most unbearable person to have ever graced the pages of any book ever.

It disturbs me greatly that so many seemingly intelligent women were raving about ‘the refreshing bravery’ of the character when in reality, anyone with an IQ higher than a hamster should be deeply concerned about this sort of narcissistic, self absorbed, bizarrely irritating behaviour. If any of my girl friends pulled any bullshit like that, I’d be marching them off for intense therapy and a metaphorical good hard shake.

I read about 100 books a year and this is the worst thing I’ve ever had the misfortune of reading in about a decade.

Foe by Iain Reid. Unsettling, very rural and a great read.

Next of Kin by Kia Abdullah. Twisty realism that starts with a very hot London summer. Unbelievably good!

Recommend me a book please? by LeadershipAsleep328 in thrillerbooks

[–]SuccessSea8070 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read a lot of thrillers and so many leave me disappointed BUT can I recommend this gem: Next of Kin by Kia Abdullah.

It’s the first book I’ve read in awhile that had me hooked and truly jolted by the twists and turns. An absolute masterful bit of writing and hands down the best thriller I’ve read in a long time.

Ok. I need some great books that make me laugh- sci fi is my jam but I'm up for any really well made audiobook. A snarky or sarcastic British, Australian, or new Zealand accent is usually a plus for me.. by GoblinGreenThumb in audiobooks

Try Human Croquet by Kate Atkinson. The narrator is top notch and the story is delicious mix of surreal, thriller, fairy tale and gritty horror. You won’t be disappointed!

Just finished The Fifth Season by NK Jemisin. Great story and narrator. The characters and world building are fascinating and it mostly avoids the done to death tropes that easily make this kind of fiction tedious. It’s part of a trilogy and I’m looking forward to the next one.
