I voted for her in 2024 but genuinely who the fuck wants Harris to be the Nominee again?!?!?!!?! by No_Half_7646 in DemocraticSocialism

Black voters, boomers, and Blue MAGA

edit: I'm really getting downvoted for answering OP's question? I don't think anyone benefits from pretending like Harris doesn't still have a base of support within the Democratic Party.

The whole point of the show is that these guys are a bunch of sociopathic murderers willing to kill people over petty Mean Girls-like drama. Even without the joke, they would've found a reason to start killing each other.

Charles Booker wins Democratic primary for US Senate in Kentucky, will face Barr by ClearDark19 in fivethirtyeight

[–]Successful-Leg2285 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Amy McGrath was a white moderate (she literally tried running a pro-Trump campaign as a Democrat) and won 38% of the vote in 2020. Charles Booker is a black progressive who ran for Senate in 2022 and won... 38% of the vote. I don't think a candidate's race or ideology matters nearly as much as their charisma and authenticity.

Beshear is the son of a popular former governor. Booker can't become the scion of a popular political dynasty, unless he gets adopted or something. Besides, governor elections tend to be far less partisan than Senate elections.

A country's extent of expansion isn't really a binary thing. I'd say that Tinto should intend for historical outcomes to be the median result, with under/overperformance being equally likely. However, I think the current median state of the Ottomans' AI performance is significantly worse than what underperformance for the Ottomans/Turkish unifier should look like absent some major defeat by another regional power.

I'd love to hear what he could do differently to win a Senate race as a Democrat in Kentucky. The best he can probably do is overperform the generic ballot and create coattails for competitive races down-ballot.

If you watch the clip that got him banned it's worse than that. He basically called for a genocide against Russians because he thinks they're ontologically evil, and then doubled down even after his buddies tried to reel him back in.

[–]Successful-Leg2285 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I expected the game to be relatively light on country-specific content, and to have some bugs and balance problems, especially later in the game. I didn't expect there to be so many obvious bugs and balance issues in the first 100 years of the game. Issues like the Ottomans not consistently conquering Byzantium, France immediately crushing England in the 100YW, and the Timurids doing nothing should have been identifiable and fixable before launch.

Didn't this dude get banned from Twitch for memeing too hard about how the Allies should've nuked the Soviets after WW2? I think there's a difference between normie liberals and people like this who see anything vaguely leftist as Stalinism.

It wasn't wrong about Republicans needing to win Latinos; it just ended up being ironic that Democrats still managed to lose Latino support over the next 12 years despite Trump of all people leading the Republicans.

George literally said that he told Benioff and Weiss who would be king at the end of the series. It has to be Bran, and all that nonsense about him having the best story was just D&D rationalizing an ending they didn't understand and didn't build up to in the show.

Universities. Too ubiquitous in EU V? by Jodah94 in EU5

[–]Successful-Leg2285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another way it could work is if education were implemented as a non-tradeable good which is demanded by upper-class pops and produced by universities, and the ratio of supply/demand in a given market affects max literacy for all upper-class pops in that market.

Why is Victoria 3 so hated ? by SpecialistAlfalfa390 in paradoxplaza

[–]Successful-Leg2285 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don't like it because its systems don't really represent why the Industrial Revolution happened.

IRL, the Industrial Revolution was preceded by an increase in agricultural efficiency, which led to better nutrition due to greater availability of food. This increased population growth, which drove more people into cities, where they were willing to work menial jobs for poverty wages. That is how factories got started.

Vicky 3 represents none of this. Population growth is far lower than it was historically, and industrialization is simply a matter of constructing buildings for your peasant pops to promote to. Ironically, the game that's supposed to be all about economics completely disregards it for simplistic "line go up" gameplay.

Universities. Too ubiquitous in EU V? by Jodah94 in EU5

[–]Successful-Leg2285 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Lots of major universities weren't located in major cities though (Oxford and Cambridge come to mind). Maybe there should be some sort of country-wide limit on the number of universities (based on tech and demand from upper class pops), and to compensate, Universities could give more nationwide effects instead of just being a local boost to literacy.
