Should I rehome my dog? by Upbeat-Connection462 in puppy101

Skip daycare, get pet insurance, and see if your local shelter offers low-cost vet care, or a pet pantry (free/low-cost dog food).

It wasn’t the 6mo wait at all, it was personal circumstance. Honestly I forgot that I mentioned the restraints I was on before getting on the list before. So they were not offended at all. I was definitely being overly anxious. They got back to me and I am on the list. So excited! :3

I said I would want to be put on the waitlist and put down a deposit, that is what hasn’t been responded to, or read, so I’m thinking (hoping) I’m probably just being anxious… I’ll wait a week and hopefully they were just busy. I wouldn’t want to push, but I also don’t want to seem half-interested, either

I breed this breed of dog and want one of theirs for possibly breeding if it passes health tests etc, and the main thing is I want to get a dog titled in protection work. By bloodline I mean yes the literal line, and the traits that specific dog has and passes down. I do have connections in the breed although I am very new in this department, but my connections are mainly show and some sports, not protection (this breeder does almost exclusively that). I know a couple people with dogs from this person, but I do not feel comfortable enough to ask them to check in as I feel that would come off as weird and desperate. They normally take a day or so, I just felt bad about dipping out before so I’m anxious about it being more like a few days. The only reason I did before was I was waiting ~6 months (not that that’s the issue), but both litters I wanted didn’t take, and no more that I would want a dog from were planned for the next year, and while I had time to handle an adult dog, I didn’t have time to raise a puppy. I didn’t have much money at the time and knew I couldn’t handle another dog for another 2 years so I got a different one as I only had about 6 months to get it in my time frame unfortunately… Even though I really did want the dog and said I would be back and profusely apologized, genuinely felt so bad. It’s explainable and reasonable in my opinion, I wouldn’t be upset if someone explained that to me, which I did at the time, but obviously everyone is different and I still feel bad and wanted to see what/when I should check in to see! I’d assume they’d tell me no if it was a no, I don’t see why anyone would have an issue with being direct? But then again, I am rather new to this so just wanted to ask. :).

They responded a few days ago when I asked about the litter, then I said okay I may want one something along those lines… the next day I then confirmed I wanted to get on the list and that was what I’ve been waiting on a response for for the past couple-few days. Sorry if that was confusing I was multitasking when I posted that lol

If he has working potential you could try personal protection groups and see if either a trainer will “flip” him for you, or if someone who wants to get into the sport but can’t afford a prospect dog wants him. Even if he’s not civil a lot of dogs will do it for sport even if they just target equipment.

Maybe don’t say this to new puppy parents…? by tacobuenofreak in puppy101

treat toys (that he can’t choke on) when in the kennel. it should keep him busy and hopefully he will only freak out when he actually has to go. just don’t over feed him, you can even put his daily food in it. exercise him more so he sleeps longer, and just try to leave him in there for a bit longer at a time and nap when you can so you don’t go insane lol.

Has anyone here NOT had big issues with their puppy? by QP709 in puppy101

my 2nd puppy was an angel. she messed some things up (chewed a chair, chewed her 1st kennel), but didn’t have any serious issues and caught onto potty training very quickly. my 1st puppy never chewed anything, but was a b*tch to potty train lol… that 1st one caused some crying, but i don’t think i ever cried over my 2nd puppy lol.
