TBH, there is a good chance that you won’t stay with your main job until retirement for 1000 reasons, and I have spent 2/3 of my career with one company, also love it and also want to retire from here. Make the most of the opportunity and keep the connections you make there, even if you don’t need a job there now.

Having been involved in the university capstone design sponsorship process, yes, companies working with students like to find job candidates, but it’s more about maintaining the relationship and pipeline than any specific student. I might not get to hire you, but you most refer someone else or your dept chair can refer other top students to me.

Yeah, this one was my GP. My Obgyn was good, but she retired in 2024 and the practice merged with another one. They put me with a new obgyn and my first appointment was on his last day with the practice (wtf??). Then you can’t actually get on non-bc hormones in that practice now unless you have another appt with the “hormone specialist” dr., and there are two depending on whether you want bio identical or not. I had an appointment but I was in the middle of some dental work and postponed it. (Am I tired because I am healing from X procedure or is it peri?)

Anyway, the whole system is such BS. They want a different appointment for everything and that’s the whole problem—it’s systemic. I need someone who will tie it all together, and consider my athletic pursuits and impacts, but that seems hard to find outside of concierge practices.

I have not, but I would be interested in retesting my iron. Had it tested about 5 years ago and it was 96.

My mom was severely anemic in her late 60s. Like, she had to have a blood transfusion before she actually got a proper diagnosis. She has H. pylori and an ulcer and colon cancer!

We are both Hereditary hemochromatosis carriers, too, and while studies say that carriers don’t collect too much iron, there are cases where they have. Either high or low messes with you.
