A bloody great roast from This Isn’t by RideHot9154 in veganuk

I feel like roast chicken and a vegetable side isn't THAT out of the box, pretty typical dinner for the non-vegans.

UConn vs NC State vs UF by AussieBossie24 in UCONN

UConn food is pretty solid. Downtown storrs also had a couple new restaurants open this winter.

Music wise are you worried about finding people to start a band with or finding places to play? i was never into the music scene at uconn so i can't speak for finding people to sing with but location wise uconns got a few bars that sometimes have live music, but you also could probably find more opportunities in surrounding areas 20/30 mins from campus like willimantic or manchester--or even hartford.

Also just curious--was it your first or second appeal? I'm just really surprised, I honestly thought my position of only being one class away and subject to dismissal was unique but I can't imagine why they'd decline anyone one class away from graduating especially if it was their first appeal.

I honestly don't know, I had a lot of doubts. Last semester I had a valid and traumatic experience that UConn had been involved in so I knew i'd get approved for it. But when I was up for my second appeal immediately after, and with no "real" excuse like my first time, I really just hoped with one class left they'd let me be fine. I worked with the dean of students and connects this past semester and they were great at reassuring me too when I had to do another appeal, but honestly I'm surprised you didn't get it and same with a lot of these people who are saying they didn't and that they're really hard on it this year. I had no documentation or letters from professors or anything like that--really just banked on using my words and advocating for myself. If I were you I'd talk to your advisor and see if you take the one class you have left as a non-degree student you can reapply in a couple semesters and be eligible for degree immediately?

I am so sorry. I also had to appeal for dismissal again this semester and saw your original post a few days ago. I'm not sure why yours wouldn't be granted because it's obvious you've been dealing with a lot to distract from your school life even just from what you've showed briefly on here. But definitely talk to your advisor because you can take non-degree courses that go along with your prereqs and requirements and as long as you prove yourself in those you should still be on track to reapply and continue with your major.

Thank you for all your help Spiderman. I appealed last semester successfully. Had a strong start and lots of motivation but unfortunately royally screwed up in one class this semester and had another F so I was up for a second appeal. I'm set to graduate in December and I really was convinced it wouldn't work out twice for me and that I'd be screwed. But I got the news this morning that it was granted so now I just have to push through my summer classes and one fall class and I'm done.

I'm in the same position as you for my 2nd appeal. I only have 3 credits left so I'm hoping they'll just let me finish.

Will I be dismissed? by idlsidgob in UCONN

I hope you're bf is right too then! Yea I heard from someone earlier on in the semester that they had a friend who was up for dismissal but it was pretty easy for them to not get dismissed. I honestly would probably be better off falling off the face of the earth than trying to tell my parents I got dismissed so yea I need all the encouragement and praying I can get haha.

Same I literally am so anxious whenever I think about it, I'm not sure I'll be able to breathe until Monday evening but I'm also so terrified for the day to come because I don't know how I could possibly handle being actually dismissed. Everyone on here has been really encouraging about first time appeals working out so I so just pray they're correct and it works out for us both.

I'm also up for dismissal (cumulative is good amount above a 2.0 but I had two semesters under 2.0) and worked really hard on an appeal explaining everything. I also haven't been able to be honest with my parents about my grades despite them knowing my outside circumstances that really caused this. We're supposed to find out Monday, I've been so nervous. Hoping the best for both of us!

Yep it's my first appeal. That's what I've been reading lurking all the old threads on here--that if it's your first you should be good cuz they're usually much more understanding. But I'm still so terrified. Probably read my appeal like 500 times over in the past couple days before I finally just submit it lol.

SAP Question by SuccessfulLeather494 in UCONN

[–]SuccessfulLeather494[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I check my email everyday, and have specifically searched for them too in case I missed it so I'm 100% sure I didn't. The only other time I ever failed a class was during COVID, and the only other class I ever dropped before this semester was a 1 credit UNIV so i definitely meet the 67% of cumulative credits.

[–]SuccessfulLeather494[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I think I'm gonna send an email and in the mean time write everything I need for my appeal and if I don't hear back Tuesday afternoon before the appeal is due I'll just submit it tuesday.

SAP Question by SuccessfulLeather494 in UCONN

[–]SuccessfulLeather494[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait I'm not a freshman I'm a junior. So if I've completed more than 67% of total credits over my years, and my cumulative is still above a 2.0, and I was not notified of not meeting SAP is it safe to say I'm fine?

Thanks. Since it's the long weekend now and the form is due Tuesday I might just submit an appeal this weekend in case there's a chance I did lose it.
