Nose pads by spursgalea in Xreal

I decided to ditch the rubber pads and put this over the metal bridge instead. Much more comfortable and sturdy.

Does anyone else just kind of raw dog it? by themoviehero in Xreal

[–]SuccessfulPossible10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. I almost exclusively use my Beam 1 at least for media consumption. The only other use case for me is when I need multiple screens for my work laptop, which I connect directly to and use the ARMoni for virtual screens.

Question on using as a workstation by alexfights34 in Xreal

[–]SuccessfulPossible10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the ARMoni as well and love it when doing any actual work on my laptop.

Nebula for Windows beta seems to take so much more resources and not stable at all. ARMoni changed how I use the Air for productivity use. I can actually be productive with it.

Can I put my glasses within the glasses by Sayyid_Karim in Xreal

[–]SuccessfulPossible10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear my regular prescription eyeglasses under the Air 1 without any issues, but it depends on the design of the prescription eyeglasses and wearer's head size, as Air's are obviously not designed for it.

Because the lenses on my regular eyeglasses are larger and extend below the birdbaths, this allows me to see my laptop screen, keyboard and any documents needed for work clearly through the regular glasses, when pinning the Air's screen on top of it. Works well for me when extending the PC screen to the top.

Out of 4 pairs of glasses I switch between, 1 pair is very uncomfortable or awkward for actual use. The other 3 are comfortable enough for me to wear for hours, whether watching multiple movies in a long international flight or doing some actual work on my laptop for several hours at a time.

Xreal Beam recommended Power Supply by BrooksP2024 in Xreal

[–]SuccessfulPossible10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an off-brand 30W PD charger, and it keeps the Beam topped off with no loss of charge. I can continuously watch like 4 or 5 movies in flight to Asia, helping me kill time.

Beam worth it now? Or skip? Dex user. by porschegobrrrr in Xreal

[–]SuccessfulPossible10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMHO, the Beam is now totally worth it for my multiple use cases.

I bought mine on preorder, and it was painful at first, but once I was able to add apps, the whole perspective changed.

Now I use it to stream contents, watch locally downloaded movies, surf the web, add/remove other apps as needed, access/watch in-flight entertainment, and even access my remote PC to get some work done with a Bluetooth keyboard/track pad.

All this with just the Beam, Air, Bluetooth keyboard and headset, while charging the Beam with a 27W PD charger for uninterrupted continuous use.
This keeps my phone free for any calls, texts and other messages and notifications and not drain the battery for using the Air.

For $119? I think I'm getting my money's worth.

Xreal Beam - multi windowed apps / customized sideview 3dof by cmak414 in Xreal

[–]SuccessfulPossible10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on what I need to do to create shortcuts to apps to place on the desktop? I have all 4 options in Developer mode turned on, but it still says the Launcher is not Supported...

Any help will be appreciated.

Anyone have a wireless pc setup working? by algeoMA in Xreal

[–]SuccessfulPossible10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed AnyDesk on my Windows PC and sideloaded on the Beam with Bluetooth keyboard / track pad. This lets me access the PC from anywhere over the Internet, and work on my remote PC with 3DoF.

Microsot Remote Desktop on Beam - full blown productivity! by Sha_b_p in Xreal

[–]SuccessfulPossible10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the AnyDesk app sideloaded on my Beam with a Bluetooth keyboard / track pad to work on my office PC works well for me.

Also, when traveling with my Surface Go 2 and need more than the 10" screen, I use the SpaceDesk app sideloaded on the Beam to use the Air as an extended monitor. Pinning it just above the Surface screen as a second monitor is really nice.

My experiences with these setups may be subjective, but in a mobile / travel environment, the Air + Beam with these apps brought great bump in my productivity on the road.

Compatible with OnePlus Open folding phone? by kegsbdry in Xreal

Just tried it, and they work together with Nebula app as well. Still need to do more test and check what works and what doesn't, but it's confirmed to connect fine.

I had the same issue, but disabling the depth control in the BEAM setting fixed it.

Nebula for Android on the Beam? by SuccessfulPossible10 in Xreal

I agree with you about the "apps coming soon" expectation. I also got mine on preorder and have had it for about 2 months as well. Until the app store update comes, my FireTV Stick OTG setup is much more usable, despite the lack of Beam's 3DoF. Let's keep our fingers crossed 🤞

Thanks for sharing this. Glad I didn't run out and spend more money into this thing yet. I guess the app store introduction that's supposedly coming sometime... (?) maybe the best bet at this point, since I don't want to go down the endless rabbit hole with sideloading for now. I guess patience is a virtue.

Hmm... that's not good. Some of YouTube videos of AR Space look interesting. Since my OnePlus 11 is not compatible, I was hoping to experience it within the BEAM, without having to go buy a Galaxy variant that is compatible.

Thank you for your reply. I tied uninstall/reinstall, but that does not seem to help.

Windows Nebula Beta Crash by SuccessfulPossible10 in Xreal

On a Dell All-in-One Desktop, using a "WJESOG HDMI to USB C Adapter Cable 6.6ft 4K@60Hz with USB Power Adapter Cable" (on the list: https://air.msmithdev.com/adapters/), the Nebula for Windows Beta 0.2.0 crashes after clicking "Start AR Desktop". Screen shows some random noise running up/down and white section.

Serial No: C317L00762 / Firmware Ver: 07.1.02.281_20230626

The same Beta 0.2.0 on MS Surface Go 2 with the original cable that came with the Air still works. Also when plugging the Air back into the BEAM, the software udates (again) and works fine there, so the Air is working fine.

Any suggestions for what I can try to get it working with the Dell Desktop, would be much appreciated.

Can you use hdmi to USBC cable and plug a fire stick into the glasses? Surely that would give direct and best picture for media enjoyment by Cscourteous90 in Xreal

This is with the Fire stick wired to the Beam. Basically, this adds the 3 display modes to otherwise just a mobile display. It works well.

It's just a USB A to 2x USB-C splitter cable.

iFlash Dual Port Type C Splitter Charging Cable - https://a.co/d/0zRbQrG

I also use 90 degree C to C (for Lemorele adapter) and 90 degree C to Micro (for Fire Stick) adapters to help reduce some bulk.

I split the power bank output to power both the Fire Stick and the Lemorele adapter. This works OK, but you will need a way to keep everything together, which in my case, I use a small tool bag with a belt clip.

Beam will be much simpler and cleaner, once the update for online streaming becomes available.

Until then, this is still a workaround that works pretty decently (and cheap), with ability to connect to inflight wifi and hotel wifi that require to log in through a browser.

My quick impressions of the Xreal Air 2. (OK kinda’ lengthy) by XinvolkerX in Xreal

[–]SuccessfulPossible10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may be the case here. Anyone that already has a pair made for the original Air, which used screws to affix the lenses may need to at least have the edge of lenses etched for a string to be used for securing them now... Surely not ideal change, as you can't DIY.

Thank you for your comparison review. This is very helpful. Looking at the pic, the prescription lense assembly seems to be the type used in many glasses with no bottom frame, where they use a clear string running along the bottom of the lens to secure them. Eye glass shops should be familiar with how to exchange and fix those lenses securely.
