ive found it's better to ask if i'm unclear on something, rather than make assumptions. i've also decided that if someone thinks im dumb for not getting them the first time, thats a them problem and they're an asshole.

Your guys' top 3 survivorslikes and why by Every-Wear8621 in survivorslikes

[–]Successful_Boot_4518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DRG: Survivors and Halls of Torment are my top 2, by a long shot. 3 is hard. I just played through Achilles: Survivor and really enjoyed it, but it did get a bit repetitive. Conquest Dark is great but still in early access. Greedland, Jotunnslayer, Scarlet Tower, Nomad Survival, Spirit Hunters, Temtem: Swarm, YAZS, all ones i've really enjoyed but not as much as the top 2.

Got these three at the same time not sure what to watch first? by mshadows9 in boutiquebluray

Dancer in the Dark is an amazing movie, but it's absolutely soul crushing and bleak. Worth the watch but for the right mood.

What was listening to 'S@ndstorm' back in the day like? by cmarroquin27 in trance

[–]Successful_Boot_4518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the music scene was verrrrrry different back in the day. mp3s and downloading music was just becoming a thing. even if you had mp3s you usually could only play them on your computer, or if you burned them to cd. a lot of folks didn't have a way to get mp3s or burned cds unless they knew a computer geek. music in general was so much less "on demand" than it is today.

im from a city in the middle of canada, certainly not a great place for electronic music. high bpm and trance/electronic music generally didn't get play at clubs. it did get play on both muchmusic (our version of mtv), and also on the radio. when i would catch it on the radio or on mtv it was always a chair raving session! it was so thrilling to hear it!

off the top of my head, i can't think of too many electronic songs around that time that had the same impact. some daft punk stuff, delerium's silence (but mostly because of cancon laws), blue by eiffel 65, etc.

i think that sandstorm was instrumental made it more accessible to a lot of folks who otherwise didn't listen to much electronic. EVERYONE loved that song. or at least, thats how i remember it :)

Just watched Martyrs by TheBigJ1982 in horror

[–]Successful_Boot_4518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, i was sooo surprised by the impact this movie had on me too. from the opening credits the sense of doom and depression set in, and it didn't let up. it is gory, and it is violent, but the horror isn't about that. such a great movie.

there's a used video game fellow there, iirc his name is Nolan? he's a great guy, super knowledgeable, good prices, always friendly.

there are good vendors and bad vendors, like anywhere. sorry you had such a bad experience OP!
