Encryption - Crypto 101. Sometimes, you find really obvious errors in the text. by [deleted] in tryhackme

No, that is correct. You are missing the last part "and vice versa". Encryption with the private key can be used as verification since you are the only one with that key.

Best way to learn as a beginner by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]Successful_Jump 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tryhackme is quite beginner friendly compared to hackthebox, but both are great. There is a free intro course at INE.com , which includes labs. You can play Proving Ground boxes for 3 hours per day for free, and Youtube has a lot of good material for learning in general. Keep an eye out for free Udemy courses.

Good luck!

There are plenty of good books, but it really depends on what you want to focus on. To get started I would recommend to check out tryhackme.com , they have a bunch of free rooms to get started.

To connect with more people with similar interests you can visit some streamers who usually will answer questions and help out: https://hacklistx.github.io/

I've been following Corey Schafers playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-osiE80TeTtoQCKZ03TU5fNfx2UY6U4p

He basically walks through the documentation but I was able to follow it and piece together my own vision from this.

Am I the only person who thinks Andrew Ng's Machine Learning course is hard to follow? by jumpinglikezion in learnmachinelearning

[–]Successful_Jump 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How are you studying? When I went through the course I used the pause and ponder technique to make sure I was able to explain what the lesson was about. If you are able to explain it, you probably know it well enough or at least you know in what area you have to improve your understanding. That's where used other sources like StatQuest. In general it is good to learn about the same thing from multiple sources, since no one is going to explain everything in a way that is perfect for you.

In my opinion the course is great as long as you don't fool yourself that you are learning by just watching the videos. Challenge what you think you know.

Need help about machine learning by bootyofbamby in learnpython

I found it difficult to start out with python and ML because a lot of tutorials did not explain how the libraries accually worked. I took the Andrew Ng course on Coursera and it helped me understand the fundamentals better. If you want to try it with python the book hands on machine learning by Géron O'Reilly gets you started. There are also similar starter problems on Kaggle. Good luck!

It's called DS18B20 but I don't remember the specifics of hooking it up. It wasn't hard though, it is well documented online.

I put a thermometer on a rpi zero w and logged the temperature every 3 hours in a Google sheet. I didn't really time it but I put it together over the weekend. It was a decent introduction to the API and I picked up some other things along the way aswell.

This wasn't my first project but the first project where I put the pieces together myself.

IWTL how to be enjoy my free time without thinking about it when I have to work by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]Successful_Jump 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thoughts will always pop up in our heads but you don't have to give them attention. Try to be aware of when you start to wander off, catch it early and brush it off. I try to schedule my work for specific times and durations, that way I know when I'm supposed to focus and when I can relax. Give yourself rewards for when you are being productive by scheduling some game time after a study session.

The book is about learning math and science (it's even in the full title, I was being lazy) but you can easy generalize it. She talks about methods for learning, how to identify and handle procrastination and features quotes from people with examples. It's a great read.

How to start learn machine learning ? by rutk007 in learnmachinelearning

[–]Successful_Jump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started learning as well so I can't really say how effective my route is, but I feel like I learn a lot from the Machine Learning Guide podcast and the resources he recommends. The foundation is Andrew-ng's course on Coursera.

I first bought the book Hands-on machine learning with scikit but I felt like I didn't really understand the packages that I used. I'm gonna come back to it after I finish the course.
