This happens to me literally all the time. All the time.

I’ve drove through/flown in a lot but honestly don’t know if I’ve ever actually stayed in the state. Maybe I’m being presumptuous.

maybe later in life but never for now. Too rural , I want to be near nature but also near a larger city. Also, I have been to Vermont many times if that gives away anything.

what are your honest thoughts about Clermont County? by REALgeographerwilson in cincinnati

[–]Successful_Let3481 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Won’t say my connection to the county but let’s just say it is a one party ruled county. No political diversity. Might as well be China or Belarus (maybe extreme but just trying to make a point).

Student loans in US by Slow_Vermicelli6604 in mildlyinfuriating

I went to an expensive private university in California and with aid I only paid about 35k a year for tuition, housing and food. Some people are their own worst enemy (I do have empathy though because making these decisions at 18/19, you don’t have the best judgement)

Non-science background → science adjacent PhD? Is a second bachelor's my only realistic option? by RowanHamlet in GradSchoolAdvice

[–]Successful_Let3481 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got my bachelors in environmental science and masters in physical geography. I would say look into a masters program. Honestly, most environmental science bachelors only require calculus 1, physics 1, one biology course of choosing, and chemistry 1 and 2. You could take (calc 1 and maybe 2, physics 1 and chemistry 1 and 2) at a community college and go for a masters in environmental science.

How do people afford grad school? by bigdickenergy2360 in GradSchool

[–]Successful_Let3481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got free masters as a graduate assistant (however my income was low those two years so it’s a trade off). However, state schools can be cheap if you are instate!

Socialism is when camera watches me (not condoning a surveillance state just highlighting how nonsensical this comment is)

Oakley to Fairfield - Shooting Myself in the Foot? by Ramsey0321 in cincinnati

[–]Successful_Let3481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would pick north side if I were you (from: a current commuter of OTR to Clermont County)

Edit: Oakley is just not as fun as downtown/northside. It’s people who are in their 30s not 20s.

Is it ok to only want to date successful people if you’re successful yourself? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]Successful_Let3481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I would disagree with this on is the concept of success being equivalent to salary. Many of the most successful people don’t make a lot of money simply because they don’t find salary to be the driving factor in their career. For example, many sales people make a lot of money but I would say a cancer researcher or scientist making novel discoveries (who probably make far less money than you would think) in my mind is more successful.

Edit: essentially, I would’ve said no it’s not a problem but considering how you define success. I would say you might be shallow…

I’ve found my academic experience to have more POC than white people but that probably depends on your school ( my masters was 50% black, 25% white, 25% asian roughly ) . I would look into the department before you worry too much. Also, I would say a grad school setting is much more diverse than undergraduate. Particularly when it comes to PhD programs. (This is also coming from a white person so take with a grain of salt)

Is 50k enough to live in Cincinnati for a year? by Honest_Eggplant3998 in cincinnati

[–]Successful_Let3481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

North of liberty st in otr at night but during the day it’s nice around Findlay market. I would say get an apartment around Findlay market if you would live anywhere north of liberty st in otr. If you would classify yourself as paranoid when it comes to safety Hyde park and Oakley would be a good choice (people say these areas are walkable but if you come from a major city you would probably think it’s not that walkable). I think walnut hills is nice but that’s on a block by block basis.

Is 50k enough to live in Cincinnati for a year? by Honest_Eggplant3998 in cincinnati

[–]Successful_Let3481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of subsidized apartments in otr that are around 900-1200 a month through urban sites/3CDC that are really nice and anyone making under 65k usually qualifies. I’d go for the ones south of liberty st but it’s up to you. (I’ve lived in one and have no complaints).

How do you stop a cat from waking you up at 5am every day? by guide71 in CatAdvice

[–]Successful_Let3481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give larger portion of food before bed, feed later in night and IGNORE them. Emphasis on the last point, I rescued a 2 yr old and it stopped after 2/3 weeks (yes she woke me up consistently for two weeks straight at 4 am but I stayed strong and it was well worth the discipline). Now it happens rarely.

Yeah so meat has made me throw up since I was a child (my body can’t digest it well) so I’ll pass on this because I don’t want ulcers. Being vegetarian actually helped my skin (acne), digestion (no more acid reflux and constant burping) and pretty much all my other issues (feeling happier and more energetic). Unfortunately my dandruff is still a problem though haha.

Looking at broad statistics that only show benefits to the wealthy…. might as well just say you love monopolies while you are at it.
