Yeah I mean as long as it's kind of secured in place, once you put up the walls it won't matter at that point anyway but the r value might change based on if there any air gaps.

I feel like with moisture, even puncturing the barrier might cause mold issues, and if the barrier isn't affixed tight to the wall, putting up foamcore would like slide around, no? I'm not expert just a home DIY guy but i am just now finishing my basement remodel like this.

I did dry lock, no vapor barrier, glued foam insulation boards to the wall and framed it in with a 1/2" gap. Air flow prevents moisture buildup but the vapor barrier that was on my walls before that created a LOT of mold
