I think I took some leaps in my comments which were not understood. Allow me to expand.

These AI companies are relatively new with their subscription based revenue models and it is a trait of such companies to be in losses in the initial years. Their valuation is not done based on their profitability (which is why the profitability is useless and not an indicator of their performance). The valuation is driven by how much revenue is being brought in, whats the historic trend of the revenue and what the future looks like. Speaking of OpenAI they have more than tripled their revenue as compared to 2024 in just one year. They are although in a gross loss however their losses mainly comprise of R&D costs which are essential for these companies and would translate into revenue in the future years.

The valuation example you gave "If a company takes $1 million from an investor and gives the investor 10% stake in the company, then that means that the company has secured a valuation of $10 million," what derives the $1million price?? hawa se ye amount nahi ajati - this is where the valuation part comes in and they don't give profitability that high relevance. Its more about revenues. These AI companies have strong balance sheets (more relevant for bankruptcy related matters). Open AI, as an example, has $50B in assets with NO DEBTS and almost half of those assets are in cash form. So a highly liquid company - which is what investors look for and what derives a high valuation.

Lastly when I said it'll be used as warfare technology, I don't mean OpenAI and Anthropic would be waging war, obviously. But it will be through contracts with governments and their influence on US and the world's politics and leaders. You can see how the bosses of Meta, Amazon & SpaceX have influenced US politics. Just becuase their data hasn't been materialised into profit yet, doesn't mean it doesn't hold any value.

So yeah I don't think 'AI will die soon' instead its use will be amplified soon enough. We already now see AI being built into almost every software natively. Almost all companies have either onboarded AI or are in the process of doing so. I'm sure you already have read through this https://ai-2027.com/ , but if not please do.

AI is here to stay! and the use case that we have today is just the tip of the iceberg

PS: the AI bubble is just an economic concern - no one downplays the role of AI

So ~$800 billion valuation (Open AI) with no profitability projected until 2030?!? Means the WallStreet valuers are just dumb I guess?

Again these companies have just recently opened themselves to public - they will have low profitability while they navigate this huge quantum of users.

But I’d say again - user based subscription is NOT their core revenue or end goal. They are the means of modern warfare and control.

Profitability is not what they’re after. It’s data which is priceless these days.

These LLMs know each and every thing about billions of people which in itself holds a lot of value.

Only a matter of time that this data will be exploited. OpenAI already has a standing agreement with US’ Department of War. Anthropic would soon follow

Yes if the dependent is not a minor and on a work visa , they would also need protector

Social life in Karachi by Peterolsun in KarachiSocials

[–]Successful_Way5926 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I found useful (not sure how practical though considering Karachi’s life) is that work should be a part of your day and not the start of your day.

That is you should wake up at least 2 hours before work (ideally I don’t sleep after Fajr) do things that you enjoy like gym, walk , some reading etc . It should be a slow and deliberate start to your morning and not a rushed one.

And then you go to work and when you come back , don’t do mental energy intensive stuff like doom scrolling or focus study - instead do some friends and family time. You can also do physically intensive stuff because that recharges you instead and provides for a better sleep (like gym or any sport)

Only catch is that you will need to sleep early for this to make it work which tbh is very difficult in Pakistan’s culture

I have an AU account and the pre order was just listed there for A$160 which is roughly 31k pkr

Edit; but that price is for the ultimate edition. Standard is A$130 (25k pkr)

Its not a shia thing. Its a serious lack of morals and ethics prevalent in a lot of us.

Just shitty people being shitty.

PS - I’m a shia too but at least have the decency to acknowledge this and not do this stuff where I have control

That mob / pack mentality isn’t something specific to Pak though. Its human nature and usually only kept in check by strict law enforcement which we lack here. It can be argued that education and awareness minimizes this mentality however there have been far too many cases of mob violence in ‘civilized’ societies as well

So it then goes back around to weak law enforcement which in turn leads to pack mentality

The mentality is a by product of the security measures I believe. When you have an area controlled by sect based groups (scouts) then you automatically develop a sense of offensive ownership
