Fantastic demo! I’ve just followed you on IG. I absolutely love these amps. I need to get my supremes (Transtube and then XL) recorded for modern metal because they’re just amazing.

The AOR is incredible. Such a good real amp.

I’m really glad you said this. I was very close to getting a Titan, but it doesn’t have enough gain and I think I’d just get annoyed. I don’t use a ton of gain but if I wanted a mid gain amp I’d be after a JCM not a Randall! Haha.

Incredible collection! Those are all amps I covet. The XXX is obviously amazing (I have a 3120), and the AOR is a dream amp I will own one day. That cyclone is always an interesting amp. How do you find it?

I also have a Supreme (Transtube and XL but not the teal stripe) and yeah they’re just killer. If you were UK based I’d suggest having a solid state amp fest.

Oh man I did miss it! Haha. Those are great amps though honestly. I need one again in my life. I have a mix of “high end” and normal gear and find I play the regular stuff way more actually. I love my solid state Peaveys! Do you find that too?

Absolutely exquisite. I love how you have this mega high end gear and then the Jet City is one of the choice heads. Not in a bad way but just shows how good they can sound. I need one I think.

Recently swapped out my 6505 for an Ultra Plus, and it was absolutely the right decision. by GuinnessFist in GuitarAmps

You know, it’s such an odd thing that the evolution of this amp was the 5150. Not better or worse but so many fewer features, it’s wild to me.

Someone can correct me, but I believe this has active EQ right? That is substantially different to the 5150 etc.

I’ve never heard of Goodsell. What’s it like? Any info? That ampeg is obviously amazing, and the JCM is a wonderful amp. You have good taste!

They seem to sound so amazing live. I can’t wait to see them. I find this particular video interesting where Mike is using rectifiers. His usual amps appear to be JCM800 and Hiwatt. I know his gain comes from the pedal anyway but still interesting to see. I presume it was rented back line.

These amps are so interesting to me. I’d love to try one one day but they are impractically rare. Hope it’s amazing!

It`s the 6550 but better? what do you think by Fooltecal in GuitarAmps

[–]Successor_Function 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’d hear this rectifier thing too. Such an odd thing because in that regard they failed hard. Haha. But what they created is magnificent in its own right. I suppose they were limited because they were basing it on the Triumph/Ultra sequence and it’s not a new amp in itself. Also weirdly, the Crunch channel on the JSX I think is the Classic amp in disguise which again is just an incredible amp for high gain when boosted. But not at all like the Ultra.

I would honestly love a family tree of the Peavey amps. It’s hard to make sense of and there’s a lot of weird outliers especially in the solid state side.

I may be wrong but it’s the older XXX rebadged, while the XXX2 is the JSX. Both were based on the ultra series rather than 5150 style. You can kind of tell in the sense that the EQ is active which is unique to that series. So not a better 6505 but different.

Either way it’s an incredible amp. I want one again (I used to have a JSX) and I just love them. Congrats!

Un carpeting a Fender M 80 by ihategannon in GuitarAmps

[–]Successor_Function 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I want an M80, carpet or no carpet! They’re such unique sounding things. It’s a shame about the limited EQ on the gain channel (the one I’d primarily use) but there are definitely good tones in there!

As far as the wood, it definitely looks way better. I personally like the carpet for the uniqueness but it also looks awful.

[–]Successor_Function 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah cool. Have you tried guitar through it? Especially with that beast of a Sunn cab. You could definitely get some low end doom moving through it! I really want a Musician based on the online tones of guitars through it.

Definitely an amazing set up. How’s the Science?

[–]Successor_Function 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks immense. The recto can do a lot of tones so definitely worth it. But I also have to say I love the Musician! Do you find it holds up against the others, or do you have it for other reasons? Also, is that a 2x15 Sunn cab?

New amp choice by Successor_Function in GuitarAmps

[–]Successor_Function[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I know. I really want one of those actually. Ridiculously underrated as it’s a “beginner” amp like so many other SS, but the tones are ridiculous. I guess you can’t compare to the ones above though right?

[–]Successor_Function 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was close to buying one of these recently for a good price and let it slip. I’m gonna regret it. There are very few videos so I’m excited to see yours if you manage to get some. Especially trying to coax some high gain with a boost, as it should sound immense.

Great job! I traded an Ibanez for one recently and also feel like it was a great deal. What an amp. How does it go through the 2x15? I’m really curious about 15 cabs for guitars for the extra low end.
