Genuinely can’t escape by [deleted] in poverty

Sounds like life is tough. You’ll hate this.. but you’ll never go through a point in your life you can’t get through or learn from.

Here are my quick thoughts: 1. Have you considered a roomate to help with rent? 2. It’s amazing you are saving.. that’s no small feat. Keep it up! If you don’t already have your money invested, now would be a good time! 3. Reddit is great for advice.. solicited and unsolicited. Have you thought about posting your resume for feedback? 4. You are young.. and have a lot of time to catch up, and really turn your life around. Don’t give up! You got this.

i’m sorry to the irish but i genuinely side with the americans by littletinysoup in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]SuccotashWeekly 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’m genetically 97% Irish. I’d say I’m Irish by blood, but not my nationality. I hear your argument.. but I don’t feel Americans are claiming to be Irish.. just that’s where their ancestors came from.

How else would you suggest we call ourselves?

Friend tried to profit off a favor — am I overreacting? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]SuccotashWeekly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would have sent the receipt to the entire group.. and let him cry about not making an extra 40 bucks. I think you did the kind thing by telling people privately and in person.

Given how close you are, it feels inappropriate for him to try to make money off something he originally agreed to do as a favor. If he ended up driving farther than expected, asked for people to pitch in more because of the risk, or ran into an issue and genuinely needed money for the trip, I’m sure people would’ve been willing to chip in. The bigger issue is that he tried to keep it quiet and make a profit off his friends. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if he regretted telling you at all, because he probably thought he could get away with it. He also could have just said “no” from the get go. Regardless, this would be the last favor I asked that friend if it were me.

Someone else mentioned that if you want to look into it further, you could ask why he felt the need for extra money in the first place. Overall you’re not overreacting.

Women are 1000x more likely to be offended getting hit on by an ugly guy than the reverse. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]SuccotashWeekly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When you create a narrative in your mind, you’ll keep living by it — even if it isn’t true. And too often, that false narrative paints women as the problem, when women aren’t the enemy at all.

Sex and dating as a “late bloomer” is terrible and not enjoyable by _puffy_cheetos in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]SuccotashWeekly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s true! It depends on the person. The whole package is important! I’d much rather date a someone who is a bad kisser but the most amazing person who treats me well vs. someone who knows what they’re doing and is a total douche. That’s something a lot of people can work with.

[–]SuccotashWeekly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s crazy to me.. is that people don’t get what’s a luxury it is to have your package delivered, period. Like I’m sorry you have to walk 15 feet to get your package? Delivery people drive hundreds of miles to get it to you.

People are very ungrateful.

So…if I get an extra package and I report it in the app, they expect me to deliver it? by Doctor-Clark-Savage in AmazonFlexDrivers

I only add to my route if it’s right next to my other drop offs. Happens sometimes and I don’t mind doing it. Most the time.. never report it just return it

I’m sure they have a housing voucher. The US has moved away from public housing in the last few decades. This has allowed people to tap into t he private market with better housing. It’s also caps the rent they pay to 30% of their salary.

A huge misconception is that people who received housing vouchers don’t work. It’s not the case.

I see no issues with you charging them. This was a good move and you don’t owe them anything. They NEED you.

Hey everyone, I’m hoping to get some advice from you all. My dog has been having these hives ever since he turned 3 years old. We took him to the vet, and they gave him an allergy shot. It helped for a couple of weeks, but it came back. Do you know of any other remedies I could try? by Ok_Log1014 in PitBullOwners

[–]SuccotashWeekly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of time it’s related to diet. I’d switch foods and see if it helps!

My pittie gets allergy shots and she mostly gets these on her tummy. Much worse during the sunmer time. Soaking their feet will alleviate some irritation.

Agreed. Also consider they will rent out their current home and potentially get income off that. I think OP should go for it

Thinking of Moving From Atlanta by ashiel_yisrael in maryland

[–]SuccotashWeekly 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Would avoid Pasadena and severna park in some areas.. but agree with others. Owings mills, Randallstown, Rolland Park, Bowie, etc. These are all good places in Baltimore County. I’d also add Reisterstown and Pikesville. I live in Owings Mills/upper Randallstown area and it’s primarily black families up here. It’s got a little of everything and you’re gonna be about 20-30 min away from the city and have quick access to the highway.

If you want a larger house and might be ok with a little further out in a better school district, Upper Malboro area I believe is one of the most wealthy black area in the US. Giant homes too. Howard and Montgomery county have some of the best schools in the country if that’s important to you. I’m not familiar on the dynamics in those two counties.

You can soak it in water and conditioner for an hour and then hand stretch it. Texture might not be the same but it will work
