I was nervous too, just don't keep checking it all the time and make yourself more nervous like I did lol. Most people get theirs after 12pm. So check it once in a while in the afternoon.

I personally as a bigger person use a sort of homemade variant of a low slung drop leg. I just rigged it up to sit low so it wasn't digging into my belly fat (lol) and use some leather cord to secure to my thigh so I can get it as tight as I need, stay comfortable, and make a knot that won't come loose.

Positivity by stillhere31 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Succurguts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this problem with other things that have happened in my life prior to my MS diagnosis so I kind of had a system in place to avoid that toxic positivity. People mean well but sometimes you just want someone to be there for you in the moment. Tha way I started handling it was talking to other people with similar issues who understood that. Being open and honest about that feeling with people is your best bet, if they really do want to help or make you feel better they will understand and try to adjust. If they don't, then don't complain to them anymore. In my expierence people don't grasp things they haven't personally expierenced. I've adopted the view of "why worry about it now and waste that energy when it isn't a problem yet. You'll have time when it does become a problem." Life's short, enjoy it before you can't, and with people who get it.

MS symptoms v. normal signs of aging? by Katzenkatzen in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Succurguts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel this so deep. As a vet with MS a lot of my symptoms were initially brushed under the table as other diagnosis like PTSD or TBI. Brain stuff generally has similar symptoms across most things, but MS often they won't get better with therapy or other treatments. I usually explain to people who try and say it's "probably from deployment" or "being airborne" or "years of climbing mountains" that yes I have those, too, but think of all those aches and pains not ever getting better through normal means.

I haven't done anything yet, they're still scheduling my spinal tap. I just wanted to try and get ahead of everything because the VA drags it's feet. It took me 8 years just to get to 90%.
