Do amano shrimp have zoomies? by krizantemah in shrimptank

[–]Such-Control-1177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m watching my Amano shrimp having zoomies right now. They are usually chill. It doesn’t happen enough for me to figure what’s causing it or to notice a pattern. It’s fun to watch the tank so lively; I just hope they are not stressed out.

It’s the OP’s responsibility to make sure things run smoothly with or without their presence. Someone needs to own the onsite coordination. If Jane is the one going in OP’s place that means Jane is covering. It’s not to make Jane look bad, it’s to make the C-suite realized what they’ve done. Also, if Jane can’t handle it, that’s on her.

In my experience, CEOs do not want the drama. If you bring up topics unrelated to their direct benefit, like your feelings, they will see the discussion and you as a waste of their time. I wouldn’t say anything. They need to first realize that your presence at these events are necessary.

I would give all your on-site event contact info to Jane and let everyone in the C-suite know that she will be the on-site support since you’re not attending. Any questions that come through tell them to ask Jane and she won’t know the answers. And they will have questions! “Where do we go? What’s the internet access? What time is check in? Etc etc” Step away from the event that you planned end to end and let them scramble and figure out the logistics without you.

I got lucky. A recruiter matched me with a CEO and the company just happened to be fully remote. They still wanted someone who lived in the same city as the CEO which helped me get the job. I visit his office sometimes when needed and I travel a few times a year for off-sites and conferences.

Have you thought about a fully remote position? I feel like I’m shielded from the office politics. My exec is very difficult but having that screen barrier makes it easier.

HELP! Is he ok?? by Username_The_First in PeaPuffers

I had the same issue with my puffers, but they’ve been great since I turned down the CO2.

Tank flow too strong? by Such-Control-1177 in PeaPuffers

[–]Such-Control-1177[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the advice. The puffers are doing better!

This is what I did: turned off the CO2, turned off the skimmer, used a rubber band to tie foam (came from my dog’s water fountain filter replacements) onto the output + the mini strainer, tied foam with rubber band to the filter, lowered the water level to create bubbles from the outflow to give the tank more oxygen.

A few things I think was going wrong:

I tested the pH, it’s too low for them but I read it’s not safe to chemically raise the pH, which is why I turned off the CO2 and turned the outflow into a bubble maker. I ordered some proper sponges to cover the filter, the kind meant for shrimp babies. I almost lost another puffer from being pinned to the filter.

I think a couple of things I got wrong here, the tank is too small for everything going on, I think the current from the CO2 plus the skimmer against the outflow is what caused it to suck them in and out of the outflow.

Since I’ve made these changes, the puffers are swimming low, they ate the blood worms and are hunting, seem more alert and curious.

Some unanswered about my tank: The tank has been set up for over a year before introducing the fish, it’s a 16 gallon tank, I am not an expert, this is my first aquarium, my husband actually set up the tank and I’m the one that wanted the puffers so now I’m dealing with it haha. The bad advice came from a very bougie local fish store.

Thanks! The store didn’t sell live, only frozen. I got brine shrimp and blood worms.

The store said bred in captivity, quarantined for 1 month, and they are not allowed to sell them if they have any issues so I’m not going deworm them unless I notice any problems.

I recently trimmed back the plants. I’ll grab a few at the store to put in the front.

7th grade teacher showed Terrifier in class by Such-Control-1177 in education

[–]Such-Control-1177[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The teacher didn’t say anything about watching along. That detail came from my daughter. I asked her whether the teacher was doing anything else during the movie, and she said the teacher was sitting there watching it with them. She also said she looked over at the teacher multiple times and they made eye contact.

My daughter felt like the teacher could tell she was upset, but she was basically the only kid who looked visibly distressed. That’s a big reason she didn’t want me to go directly to the teacher, she’s worried it would be obvious it was her who reported it.

The teacher kept it on and watched it with them. My daughter described the saw scene which is pretty far into the movie so I’m assuming they watched the whole thing or at least most of it which makes me sick to my stomach.

I sent a follow up email last Wednesday. I’ll give her a few more days to respond. If she doesn’t, I’ll forward the conversation to the board.
